Sacar: yo saqué Jugar: yo jugué Empezar: yo empecé Notice that there are accent marks on these irregulars!!!

15 + Stem-change loafers! These verbs get their name because they are stem-change verbs that are only irregular in the él/ella/usted and the ellos/ellas/ustedes versions! Stem-change loafers are ONLY –ir verbs and there are accents!!! Here are some examples: Pedir (e>i)- pidió, pidieron Competir (e>i)- compitió, compitieron Preferir (e>i)- prefirió, prefirieron Servir (e>i)- sirvió, sirvieron Vestirse (e>i)- se vistió, se vistieron Repetir (e>i)- repitió, repitieron Dormir (o>u)- durmió, durmieron Morir (o>u)- murió, murieron

16 + “Rule of Three” The rule of three pertains to the amount of vowels in a row when conjugating in the preterite If there are more than three vowels in a row, the second vowel changes to a “y” in the él/ella/usted and the ellos/ellas/ustedes form Here are some examples: Leer: leyó, leyeron Construir: construyó, construyeron Oír: oyó, oyeron Creer: creyó, creyeron
