The fireman arrived and saved everyone.  Sequential action o Los bomberos hablaron, ayudaron y rescataron a muchas personas heridas.  Interrupting action (boom!) o Imperfect +“cuando/de repente” + preterit o Yo estudiaba cuando las personas gritaron, ¡Socorro!  Narration (what happened?) o La guerra fue un catástrofe, muchos soldados murieron.  Hands, feet, eyes, ears, mouth (completed action) o Ellos tocaron al perro, era suave. o Yo caminé al parque. o Ella vio a su novio. o Mi hermano me mordió anoche. ¡Qué horror!

5 “Perfecto” is not a perfect tense. It means that there are two parts: 1.Form of HABER=to have 2.Past Participle=verb + ado/ido **The tense of haber will determine the meaning** Present? Past? 9 **A relative pronoun is a word that links, or relates, two parts of a sentence. The most common relative pronoun in Spanish is que (that, which, who, whom), and it may refer to both people and things.** Jorge es el chico que fue testigo del accidente. Jorge is the boy who was the witness to the accident. No vi al conductor del coche que explotó ayer. I didn’t see the driver of the car that exploded yesterday.

10 **After a preposition (a, con, de, en), use que to refer to things and quien/quienes to refer to people.** Ésa es la calle en que ocurrió el accidente. That is the street where the accident occurred. Ella no es la chica a quien viste en el festival. She is not the girl (whom) you saw at the festival. ¿Son ellos los reporteros con quienes fuiste al juicio? Are they the reporters with whom you went to the trial?

11 **Use el que, la que, los que, las que when you want to distinguish one subject from a group.** De todos los reporteros, Jorge es el que entrevista mejor. Of all the reporters, Jorge is the one who interviews the best. Mientras guardaba las fotos, encontré las que saqué de la inundación. While I was putting away photos, I found the ones I took of the flooding. **Use lo que to refer to a situation, action, or object not yet identified.** Ella no entendió lo que le explicaron. She did not understand what they explained to her.
