6 Frequently Asked Questions“Is it a good idea to bring a bike?” Personal preference, encouraged to lock the bike to the bike racks in front of each hall Can store bikes in their room if space is available (can not be stored in interior public areas) Have a conversation with roommates ahead of time about bikes being in the room Invest in a quality lock Residence Life

7 Move-In Day When to move-inStudents will receive a specific check in time from the 5 defined move in periods from 8:00am to 3:30pm s went out earlier this week to those who have room assignments. The rest of the assignments will go out in the next week or two. Move in time assignments will be created to minimize the impact on infrastructure bottlenecks such as elevators. Please check in at your assigned time to ensure you have enough time to get settled before new student orientation and moving in is a great experience for everyone. Students will need CatCard or the pre-assigned barcode image that will be ed to them at the end of July. Printed out parking timestamp that was attached to Students will not be able to request a specific check in time. If a students need to move in early, a request should be submitted to Residence Life for review at The Welcome session for August Orientation has been moved to the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse that will start later in the afternoon Residence Life

9 Checking In to Residence Halls Where to goStudent begins check-in process at the hall front desk/lobby which should take less than 5 minutes Drop off personal belongings along curb and move car to parking lot 30-minute maximum to park and unload Want to move a lot of students, families, and their cars through in a short amount of time. 10 Frequently Asked Questions“Is there a curfew?” There is no curfew for the residence halls. All of the halls are locked 24/7 and students will need their CatCard to enter Any guest that enters the residence hall after 10pm needs to check into the front desk with a photo ID. “What is the role and responsibility of an RA?” RA is there to serve as a resource, advisor, mentor, role model, and leader for students living on the floor. Ensure that the floor/hall community is maintained and students aren’t violating policies and adhering to the Student Code of Conduct Residence Life

14 Frequently Asked Questions“Where would you recommend a student stay the couple of days before they can move-in?” Encourage students/parents to get a hotel room if possible, call early to make reservation. Early-Arrival into the halls, all individual requests are reviewed. Based on need and availability approved students will be allowed to move-in prior to August 23rd. Residence Life

15 Winter Break Housing DetailsHalls Close – Saturday, December 3pm Students must sign-up through online system to stay for breaks Winter Break housing charges are $25 per night Students don’t need to move all of their personal belongings out of their room when the halls close Dining Halls are closed during winter break so no meals will be offered Halls Open – Sunday, January Noon Residence Life

16 Temporary Housing What to expectWith every cancellation we receive, we are immediately filling it with students in temp housing Residence Life will contact the student via phone and when assigned to a permanent spot Critically evaluate personal items necessary during temp housing Don’t unpack everything when you arrive, you may be moved to a permanent assignment within days of your arrival Furniture and limited storage will be provided in the space for temporary housing students until their permanent assignment is available.
