15 Gerhard Semmelrock, Province of StyriaConclusions In topographically sensitive sites (e.g.  inner alpine basins, shading effects on the leeward side of the alps…) the dispersion situation dominates the air quality statistics This fact applies especially to the annual exceedance statistics of short term limit values Long term trends are a better indicator to show improvements of the ambient air quality Certain processes that can’t be influenced by local/regional mitigation measures such as long range transport (also from anthropogenic origin), have to be taken into account in future assessments.
