2  Certificate Programs – 1 year (2 semesters )  Diploma Programs – 2 years (4 semesters )  Advanced Diplomas – 3 years (6 semesters )  Degree/Bachelor Programs – 4 years (8 semesters) ◦ Most of these programs are applied to through OUAC and require 4U English.

3  Collaborative/Joint Degree Programs ◦ Students may earn either one or two credentials— one from the college and/or one from the university.  Graduate Certificate Programs ◦ require a university degree or a college certificate or diploma for admission. Co-op options may also be available for these programs  Apprenticeship Programs ◦ usually find an employer to teach you the trade and then contact the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and officially register as an apprentice. Or you can take a variety of pre- apprenticeship programs

4 Investigate the different colleges/programs available to you.  College Information Program (CIP)  Thursday Oct. 31 at Loyalist (9 – 12pm). Submit permission forms to the guidance office. Transportation is provided and it is FREE.  College Research Sessions ◦ Monday October 28 in the guidance office.  Campus Tours/books/websites  Liaison Visits – Sept. to Nov. Sign up in guidance.

11 Apply and pay online by January 15, 2014 to have your name entered in a draw to win money to put towards your education expenses. Three prizes will be awarded: ◦ First prize - $2,000 ◦ Second prize - $1,000 ◦ Third prize - $500 College Application Tutorial ◦ Thursday November 7 and Tuesday November 19 at lunch in the library lab.

13  May 1, 2014 ◦ Applicants must confirm their acceptance of an offer of admission  June 17, 2014 ◦ Earliest date that colleges may require payment of tuition fees.

14 Tuition  Diploma programs - $2,400  Bachelor’s degree programs - $6,100  Joint college-university programs - $5,000 Other  Books and supplies - $1,200  Residence - $4,500 - $6,000  Public trans., gas, parking, insurance, etc.

15  Entrance Scholarship: money that is automatically awarded by the college, based on your average (80%+). This is usually deducted from your tuition.  Scholarships: usually based on marks and criteria set by the donor. You must apply for these (i.e. W. Garfield Weston Awards).  Bursaries: mostly based on financial need (i.e. First Generation Bursary).  Loans: monies must be repaid (i.e. OSAP)
