Press Release VIÑA CONO SUR LAUNCHES ITS FIRST ULTRA PREMIUM WINEWith the Launching of its first Ultra premium wine, Viña Cono Sur will close the year with a golden buckle. Ocio is a Pinot Noir 2002 from the Casablanca valley and, in Adolfo Hurtado’s words, Chief winemaker of “it is a complex wine but at the same time fresh, and elegant; it shows the perfect balance between the precise ripe fullness of its fruit and the wood. Ocio had the advantage of a 14 month ageing in French oak barrels.” The name of this outstanding Pinot Noir relates it to the ideal of Ocio, wich in Spanish means leisure time, Otium in Latin, a concept born of the classic philosophy that speaks of the creative use of our spare time, of that deserved and sacred pause that follows the daily working routine. The minute the spirit is set free to grow, contemplate and create. The winemaker says that behind the denomination exists a ludic Intention, a game an invitation to give yourself a moment of pleasure while enjoying this wine, that qualifies for the best Chilean Pinot Noir. Cultivated no more than 20 kilometers of the pacific Ocean, Ocio comes from the coldest area of the Casablanca Valley, where the Humboldt current practices its fresh influence on the vines. “ In 1999 we started to work with a plan that we called the Pinot Noir Project. Together with Martin Prieur, Winemaker of the Burgundy that we consulted in the vinification of this variety, we set out to create the best Pinot Noir in Chile. Afterwards our goal became more ambitious: to achieve a Pinot of International quality.” Hurtado explains that Ocio “is the dream coming true. A unique wine, expressive and proud of its new world roots, that maintains the Traditional enological Burgundy Style.” The production of this exclusive ultra premium wine was of only 250 cases. This means, 10 barrels of the best Pinot Noir of the Barrel room, that also develops this variety in the 20 barrels, Vision, Reserve, and varietal line. Ocio is a wine with a passionate bright red color, with a nose of cassis, blueberries, sour cherries and plums; that join the complex notes of tobacco and leather, that come from the 14 months it spends in the French oak barrels. Ocio Pinot Noir will be in the market at the end of the year, at an approximate price of 40 Dollars. Only 600 bottles will stay in Chile, the rest will be exported to countries like Japan, The United States, England and Holland. Just like Hurtado says, “Ocio, is a classic ideal made wine, and our way to share the privilege that this Pinot Noir is.”

Press Release 91 POINTS FOR CONO SUR WINERY’S 20 BARRELS MERLOT 2001Getting an above 90 score in a prestigious wine magazine is a coveted quality statement for any wine. The American Wine and Spirits publication in its January-February issue, highlights the Cono Sur 20 Barrels Merlot 2001 with an outstanding 91 points. The magazine describes this conspicuous Colchagua Valley produce as: “Concentrated and black, this Merlot's blackberry and spicy scents underscore a massive block of flavors. It feels opulent with a mellow acidity that enhances the ripeness of the fruit, keeping it vibrant.” Adolfo Hurtado, Cono Sur Winery chief winemaker and the signature under the 20 Barrels Merlot 2001 believes that the one-of-a-kind affinity between the Colchagua Valley and this variety, plays a leading role in achieving this excellent outcome. Cono Sur also bolsters its fruit’s quality and concentration through very low yields and a winemaking style that incorporates wood without shadowing the wine’s delicious fruit base. “This Merlot, which spent 11 months in French Oak barrels, leaves an imprint first through its elegance and expressive character. Its best features are round tannins, sweet and velvety, and an intrinsic balance.”

Press Release CONO SUR WINERY, FOURTH CHILEAN WINE EXPORTER Only 10 years from its 1993 birth, Cono Sur winery reinforces its standing as the main emerging winery in Chile, by achieving a fourth place in the Chilean wine exporters ranking. According to numbers provided by the Asociación de Viñas de Chile (Chile’s Wineries Association), from January to December 2003 Cono Sur Winery exports reached 1.2 million cases, equivalent to US$23 million. These statistics place Cono Sur in the fourth position when considering the ranking of wine exporters according to value, and third, if measured by volume. By far the youngest winery among the top five, the Asociacion’s totals also reveal that Cono Sur foreign sales increased by an average 34% during all of last year, compared to the immediately preceding 2002. To Stuart Downes, Cono Sur Winery Commercial Manager, “during 2003 we achieved our expansion goals in markets as key as the UK and Western Europe, but we also built a growth ratio of 20% in Canada and Japan. That speaks of a more diversified destination base, one of our most important achievements of the year.” Downes also recalls that during 2003 Cono Sur winery marked its tenth anniversary, “a decade throughout which we’ve produced and bolstered a very strong brand, one that currently provides us a solid base to define our company’s future. ” Already 2004 has started on the right sales track. In fact, Cono Sur Commercial Manager assures there’ll be positive developments in new markets, “like Asia and Eastern Europe, and a strengthening of the already solid countries.”

Press Release WINE & SPIRIT INTERNATIONAL DESIGN AWARDS20 BARRELS LIMITED EDITION RANGE WINE & SPIRIT INTERNATIONAL DESIGN AWARDS DISTINGUISHES CONO SUR PACKAGING The Wine & Spirit International Design contest awarded with a bronze medal the redesign of the 20 Barrels Limited Edition range, launched by Cono Sur Winery in 2003. With a strong emphasis on aesthetics, Cono Sur has been known since its inception for pairing its innovative and avant-garde approach to oenology with the corresponding product appearance. This effort has become increasingly relevant, in an international wine scene ever more competitive. The “20 Barrels” name was coined after the number of barrels selected for the making of the first wine to be thus labelled. When planning its packaging’s redesign, Cono Sur strove to convey an idea of exclusivity through a clean, stylish, and value-centered image. Some of the most important components of the new presentation are a heavier bottle with a bigger punt, a long and elegant capsule and, of course, a label stressing the notion of a unique wine, through a serial number and the winemaker’s signature on each bottle. The Wine & Spirit International Design Awards was carried out at the Business Design Centre at Islington, London. Journalists, wine writers, designers, marketing experts and professional buyers sat in the jury, which only awarded medals to 18% of the competing packagings.

Press Release Viiniexpo Awards 2004:CONO SUR VARIETALS GET NEW ACCOLADES Two Cono Sur varietal wines won medals at the Viiniexpo 2004, Finland’s most important wine fair. The 2003 Viognier merited a silver medal and the 2003 Pinot Noir was acknowledged with the conspicuous jury’s Special Distinction. At Cono Sur Winery, executives were glad to hear about this achievement. The Varietal range is the house’s basic wine line and, as they explained, great attention is paid to guarantee that it carries in full the excellency ethos on which the winery relies. The awards were handed out on occasion of the 2004 Viiniexpo Wine Show, which took place from March 17 to 20 at the Helsinki Fair Center.

MEDALS AND NEW WINESTO CELEBRATE THE 2004 HARVESTPress Release Cono Sur Winery at the Alonso de Córdova harvest festival: MEDALS AND NEW WINESTO CELEBRATE THE 2004 HARVEST Cono Sur winery is presenting the three medals it merited at the Alonso de Córdova Wine Awards and two new releases, at the harvest festival done in the homonymous street, this year in its eighth version. For the first time this 2004, the organisers decided to complement the celebrations with a wine contest, and launched the Alonso de Córdova Wine Awards during the opening gala. The Escuela de Sommeliers de Chile sat at the tasting boards that bemedaled three Cono Sur creations: gold for the Visión Gewürztraminer 2002 (Casablanca Valley) and silver for the 20 Barrels Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 (Maipo Valley) and the Reserve Merlot 2002 (Colchagua Valley). As for the releases, Cono Sur took advantage of the festival gathering to formally introduce the Visión Shiraz, vintage 2002 and the Varietal Carménère Both these wines had already broken into the international wine scene, but had yet to do so in Chile. The Visión Shiraz stands out for its intense colour and, as winemaker Adolfo Hurtado explains, a complex and rich nose combining cassis and cherry, subtler spices and rose notes and a final trace of wood, to add another layer. This Shiraz shares some of the traditional Pinot Noir winemaking techniques, a variety that has given a number of accolades to Cono Sur. For example, It’s also foot-trodden and vinified in open vats. About the Varietal Carménère, Cono Sur executives aimed to produce a wine whose intrinsic quality would give it leverage against competing peers. In this line, six months of wood ageing give it an extra value and additional enological weight.

Press Release Singapore, Korea, The Czech Republic and Slovakia:CONO SUR WINERY OPENS UP TO NEW MARKETS As one of its strategies to replicate the excellent sales results it garnered during 2003, Cono Sur Winery is actively seeking to introduce its produce in new export niches. To that effect the company has set in motion an aggressive commercialization plan focused on geographic regions currently less exposed to Chilean wine. Some of the new destinies being explored are South Korea, Singapore, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia; and there are already some promising outcomes. According to Gonzalo Marina, Cono Sur’s Export Manager for Asia and Eastern Europe, “we’ve already shipped an inaugural 500 cases to Singapore and with Korea, there are talks about 1400 cases for this year.” As for Eastern Europe, the executive has just returned from a negotiating tour and the operation is set to start in September. Each one of these markets is a new platform for future growth; Cono Sur already distributes in more than 37 countries. Furthermore, Gonzalo Marina emphasizes the fact that the new deals are balanced in regard to the winery’s portfolio, while Eastern Europe is interested mainly in varietals, Asian buyers are more geared towards the house’s premium ranges. And about projections for the new markets, Gonzalo Marina says that each case is different and that the introduction of a new brand is always challenging. Still, he states that “the most recurring pattern is that sales keep improving in those markets where we’ve already broken into, and that new locations tend to consolidate.”

Press Release CONO SUR WINES’ GOOD CANADIAN MOMENTNew country-wide distribution and growth rates above 30%: CONO SUR WINES’ GOOD CANADIAN MOMENT Even though they are at geographical opposites of the American continent, Cono Sur winery and Canada have managed to come closer to each other through a successful campaign especially designed for this country’s internal markets. Nowadays Cono Sur wines may be found all through Canada and the growth rates border a healthy annual 30%.  A recent promotional and commercial trip to Canada, whose high-point was Cono Sur’s participation in the exclusive Toronto Santé Wine Fair, in which only about fifty wineries from all around the world get to present their wines, served as the perfect background for the company’s executives to talk about the good place Cono Sur wines in Canada are currently in. “The Canadian market is a tough one for Chilean wines, with a consumers’ conscience mainly linking Chile to low quality, null oenological value and very cheap wines. This opinion is highlighted by the huge amount of Chilean bulk wine exported to and bottled in Canada, where it goes directly to the bottom market niches. Besides, Californian and Australian products, considered in tandem, are very aggressively positioned to the point they almost saturate the local demand for New World wines.” Ricardo Suárez, Cono Sur Winery exports manager for Canada and Latin America, explains that even in this scenario Cono Sur was capable of sustaining growth rates above an average 30% during the last 3 years. This track record places the company well ahead of the numbers exhibited by the rest of the Chilean wine industry, which gives him ample reason to be optimistic about the future. “Along with our good historic performance, we’ve been seeing that Chilean wine is making a different name for itself in Canada. Promotional Office Wines of Chile’s work has been instrumental for this outcome, as has the fact that our country has been portrayed in a very positive light lately in the international specialized media, a great influence on local consumers. One sees that a wine gets a good review and right away it disappears from store shelves and restaurants, sales go up immediately,” says Ricardo Suárez. Additionally for Viña Cono Sur, the Santé Wine Fair provided an ideal setting to launch its National Partnership with Maxxium Canada. “Maxxium International is one of the most important companies in the world in the business of wine and spirits distribution. Its portfolio of clients include such key brands as Rémy Martin Cognac, Absolut Vodka, José Cuervo Tequila and wines wise, the Italian Masi and the Australian-American Beringer Blass. Being able to work together in Canada is very good news for us, even more so now that we have nation wide coverage.” Ricardo Suárez hopes that this positive entourage will help position Viña Cono Sur as one of the three main Chilean wine names in Canada.

Press Release VIÑA CONO SUR’S FIRST ORGANIC WINE:Press Release VIÑA CONO SUR’S FIRST ORGANIC WINE: In the name of the bicycle “A bicycle wine ruled only by nature’s cycles”, in the words its back label describes this Cabernet Sauvignon-Carménère, Cono Sur Winery’s inaugural organically grown wine, currently ready to leave us and reach out for markets far and wide.  This July saw Cono Sur Winery’s first ever Organic wine, a 69% Cabernet Sauvignon–31% Carménère blend, leave its Colchagua Valley home base. “Making this wine was an enormous technical challenge,” explains Adolfo Hurtado, its winemaker, “now that it’s ready, just thinking about all the road we had to walk to produce this wine, is very rewarding. Facing this project entailed quite an important mentality shift.”  The course Adolfo Hurtado refers to began six years ago in 1998 when all of Santa Elisa, Cono Sur’s main vineyard at Chimbarongo, was placed under integrated management policy. “Back then we defined our effort as a green plan, through which we aimed to replace then common-use agricultural techniques for a more environmentally conscious approach. Also as a first step towards possible future organic farming,” explains Hurtado.  That future was just around the corner. In 1999 Cono Sur began to transition 40 hectares of its Santa Elisa vineyard, planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère, to fully organic vine growing. From the very onset under the scrutiny of the German BCS International certifying company, since then this lot has been cultivated only with 100% natural products. Even so, organic standards require a 3 year chemical-less buffer period, hence the transition period denomination, before the fruit from a determined plot may be certified organic. This timing requisite was achieved with the 2003 harvest, when Cono Sur Winery was finally able to pick its first crop of certified organically grown grapes.  That inaugural yield gave birth to the Cono Sur Orgánico Cabernet Sauvignon-Carménère now being released. “This wine is characterised by its very expressive and pure aromas, an attribute typical to organic wines. Its tannins are soft, the body is tasty and friendly, not vehement at all... I personally especially appreciate this wine’s elegance and finesse, in a style that’s more associated to European oenology,” Hurtado explains about this deep ruby-red wine. In it very distinct notes of cherry, raspberry, strawberry and plum combine with more subtle ones of tobacco and vanilla, which may be traced to the 14 months this Cabernet-Carménère spent in French Oak barrels. It provides a smooth and flavourful mouth and a fresh and rich structure.  Meanwhile, the label’s design pays a tribute in it’s own way to rural life and above all to the Cono Sur vineyards’ workers, whose effort is reflected in this wine more than in any other. That’s is the story behind the bicycle, Chimbarongo’s preferred mode of transportation. There, every morning and every evening workers pedalling to and from the vineyards fill the roads.  While Chimbarongo paths keep track of the bicycles rolling them, our own Bicycle wine, Cono Sur Orgánico, sets off to see the world; it’ll be available through the Cono Sur international family of agents. Closed off with natural cork and wax seal, this Cabernet-Carménère keeps natural and ecological to its last details.

Alejandro Jiménez, Platos & Copas magazine (Chile). February-March 2004

CONO SUR RESERVE CHARDONNAYVintage 2001 "Bright lemon yellow colour. Nose is intensely fruity and slightly toasted, reminiscent of the delicious aromas of barbecued corncobs with melted butter. Captivating and complex nose, indeed. The palate is dry, and the fine acidity and elegant fruitiness of the wine endow it with a good balance and a persistent aftertaste. Very fine wine as a whole." Juha Lihtonen, Gloria Food & Wine Magazine (Finland). May, 2003 "The grapes for this wine were picked later than those been used for the basic Chardonnay of the house. This shows in extra intensity but without the excessive weightiness that sometimes goes with it. The nose shows sweet fruitiness and some buttery aromas typical of the Chardonnay. Dry, pleasant and lively taste, perfectly acid and spicy. Elegant, not too much oak. Aims to the quality level of white Burgundy with amazingly good price." Pekka Suorsa, Gloria Food & Wine Magazine (Finland). May 2003

CONO SUR VISIÓN CHARDONNAYVintage 2002 "Rich buttered toast, nutmeg and vanilla dominate on the nose. In the mouth, clean lemon citrus flavour with good acidity cuts through the thick, buttery, oaky texture finishing with lingering well-integrated fruit and spicy oak. This is an old-fashioned, big New World wine with intensely concentrated fruit" Sean Wood, The Halifax Chronicle-Herald (Canada). September 2003 “I was particularly impressed with it. One would be hard pressed to find a better offering at this price. It’s full-bodied and ripe, oozing with flavours of luscious pineapple, pear and banana, overlaid with hints of vanilla and toasty oak and finishing with crisp, zingy acidity” (Pick of the week wine) Beppi Crosariol, The Globe and Mail (Canada). August 2004 “Aromas of tropical fruit, pear, smoke and spice predominate on the nose. Toasty and creamy nuances fill the mouth with a fair bit of pear, melon and cantaloupe expression. 20 CONOS SUR 20 BARRELS CHARDONNAYVintage 2002 “It shows fruit purity, dense and solid. I highly recommend it.” Patricio Tapia, Planetavino.com (Chile). July 2004. “The best wine in its genre tasted during the trip.” (In a comparative article comprising six Chilean wineries.) Jorge Lucki, (Brazil). July 2004. “An extremely refined wine. Its aromatic approach is delicate, with tropical notes of fresh pineapple, banana and honeydew melon first, followed by green apples later. In mouth it’s the mineral notes that take precedence, as do the fulfilling and soft body and its delicious and smooth acidity. The time this Chardonnay spent in French Oak barrels endows it with vanilla and toasted notes, and makes it even more complex. Definitely it’s an elegant and inconspicuous wine, calling to be enjoyed glass after glass.” Carolina Grez, La Tercera Newspaper (Chile). July 2004

CONO SUR VISIÓN RIESLINGVintage 2002 "As pure as the driven snow that was falling outside, when I tasted this. It was made in a dry, mineral style and has a lime-blossom bouquet so crisp and pure you could use it as air-freshener. An arrestingly dry white - it's superb with shellfish or green salads." Joe Wadsack, The Sunday Express (UK), March 2004 "Flavourful, beautifully balanced, shows true character with clean flavours. This Riesling has great acid and intense flavour due to the grapes from low-yielding vines, growing 700 kilometres south of Santiago in the Bío-Bío valley". City Palate (Edmonton, Canada). December 2002 "Its aromas are fresh and crystal-clear, they almost make you feel like standing on a cliff, feeling a refreshing breeze on your face. Plenty of intensity and as versatile a food-wine as you can find.” Anthony Gismondi, gismondionwine.com (Canada). May 2004. Partnerships: grilled fatty fish (such as salmon) or pork loin" The Independent on Sunday (UK). June 2003 "Viognier and Chile seem to be made for each other. This one reveals peach, apricots, and sultanas and is worth every penny." Scotland on Sunday (UK). March 2003 "Made with a blend of Colchagua and Casablanca fruit, is well worth a return visit. This Viognier has an enticing honey/peach nose with floral mineral notes. On the palate it remains dry, with mineral citrus flavours and quite a fresh orange marmalade finish. It's delicious, well made and attractively priced." Anthony Gismondy, Vancouver Sun (BC, Canada). January 2003 Vintage 2003 “This is a winning, dry, rich and powerful Viognier. Tropical peach and mango freshness is maintained by incisive acidity. Try it with salmon or tuna fishcakes.” Anthony Rose, The Independent Magazine (UK). May 2004

CONO SUR VISIÓN VIOGNIERVintage 2002 Great Value award "Soft, floral, ripe and apricotty. Very appealing with lovely fruit"; "Nice fresh ginger and apricot weight. Well-made with spicy freshness" Derek Smedley and Brett Fleming, Wine magazine (UK). June 2003 “This is a tropical delight, with orange-pineapple ice cream aroma, a hint of mint and licorice. Thirty-five per cent is fermented in French oak barrels for barely there wood spice. Full bodied and rich, yet surprisingly elegant. Has opulence and poise. For Asian or spicy Spanish cuisine.” David Lawrason, Toronto Life (Canada). August 2004. “Medium-full bodied, has a flowery-bouquet and is nicely nuanced with flavours of orange peel and licorice.” Beppi Crosariol, The Globe and Mail (Canada). August 2004 “Lots of freshness, structure and poise in this impressive Viognier from Chile. David Lawrason’s descriptor of orange/pineapple ice cream still holds true, along with some appealing floral and dry herb overtones. There is an abundance of ripe fruit with some additional mineral and smoky accents. Full bodied with impressive fruit intensity and length. A great buy. Drink now.” 90 points. Jefferson Davis, Wine Access (Canada). August 2004.

CONO SUR VISIÓN VIOGNIERVintage 2003 “Complex, vigorous and elegant, particularly intense and bright looking. Eccentric nose with evident litchi, white flowers and honey notes, as well as slight apricot traces. In mouth it displays richness and a citric acidity reminiscent of grapefruit. Its bitterness, well achieved through a custard-apple touch, endows this wine with a good finish and structure.” 89 points, the best winter white in a tasting organised by the magazine. Eugenio García and Héctor Riquelme, Vinos & Más Magazine (Chile). July 2004

CONO SUR GEWÜRZTRAMINERVintage 2001 “Clean, rose petal aromas with nice spritz and acid balance. Well made and with great tipicity” Ed Adams, Wine Magazine Chile supplement (UK) May 2002 Vintage 2002 "Has an oily richness, as well as contradictory fruit-acid that marks it out for tolerance of a greater degree of ferocity in the oriental spicing. It is, sadly, in short supply." Malcolm Gluck, The Guardian (UK), February 2004

CONO SUR VISIÓN GEWÜRZTRAMINERVintage 2002 “Another success from Cono Sur’s premium line-up. This smells like an Oriental fruit salad, with a perfume of lychee, jasmine and pear. The flavour has just a touch more zing than a French one, which makes it perfecto for spicy food.” Joe Wadsack, The Sunday Express (UK). April 2004 "This wine's nose blends exuberance and elegance (a hard to get combination). There are citric aromas and some apricot, against a floral background. Light, fresh and juicy in mouth. December 2002 Cono Sur Visión Riesling and Visión Gewürztraminer 2002 “With these varieties, Cono Sur again takes the lead with amazing versions from the Bío-Bío Valley.” Doctor Vino, Vinos & Más Magazine (Chile). May 2004.

CONO SUR PINOT NOIR Vintage 2000"The wine has a mature impression. It has a delicious opening, smooth berries in the taste This is an affordable Burgundy alternative." (Score: 6 out of 6 available) Nettavisen (Norway), 31 August 2001 "A real fruit-driven wine with a slightly smoky appeal. The red berry fruits come to the fore Great length and balanced acidity." Craig Bancroft, Wine (UK), June 2001 "Pinot Noir is a difficult grape to get right but Cono Sur (no pun intended) has done a great job over the past five vintages with this wine. Its spicy plum and cooked strawberry nose suggests a sweetness of fruit that's confirmed on the palate along with a flinty note." Tony Aspler the Wine Guy (Canada), July 2001

CONO SUR PINOT NOIR Vintage 2001"Recommended. VERY GOOD VALUE. Light, airy, cherry fruit. Undemanding, straightforward and tasty". F. Paul Pacult, Spirit Journal (US). June 2003 "The wily Pinot Noir grape is renowned for its wild, gamey character and its rich, sweet, savoury marmite-scented palate and this terrific spicy, earthy, 2001 has all these qualities in spades." Jane MacQuitty, The Times (UK). February 2003 "You won't find many more seductive reds than this one from the Rapel valley in Chile! Its soft, liquid velvet style is extremely moreish - it smells of sweet, ripe cherries and violets, and has soft, sensuous flavours of raspberries and loganberries with a dusting of sweet spice on the finish. Its lovely ripe, red berry fruit finish is lingering and softly rounded - elegance is the key word here!" Somerfield Magazine (UK). February 2003 "If you want to get the taste for this elusive fabulous grape, Cono Sur's version from Chile is one of the best to start with. Affordable, true to the grape and full of rounded, soft strawberry fruit" Christine Austin, Yorkshire Post Magazine (UK). October 2002 "Look for sweet cherry/liquorice fruit on the nose and a touch of smoky barnyard hints in the background. The textures are soft and the taste is warm. Excellent value" Anthony Gismondy, Vancouver Sun (Canada) August 2002 "Clear, Clean, in focus: best Chilean made Pinot Noir. Red fruit, especially cherry, dominates, with smoky influences as well as mild chocolate hints. It is elegant, fresh and optimally balanced" Lobby Magazine (Chile), December 2001

CONO SUR PINOT NOIR Vintage 2002"Slightly chill this great valued, no-nonsense, easy-sipping, spicy, earthy, slightly gamey, licoriced, black cherry red. Enjoy it washing down BBQ wings, burgers and pizza!" The Wine Doctor, Food Network Canada, March 2004 "One of the most consistently good wines from Chile, this is a very affordable, easy drinking wine. It is soft and jammed full of soft berry flavours, such as raspberries and cherries. You will not be disappointed" GP General Practitioner (UK), October 2003

CONO SUR PINOT NOIR Vintage 2003“This Chilean red presents the immediate sensation of gently roasted, gamy black cherries which arouse the nose. The palate then receives cassis-edged fruit, with a grilled leafiness. Superb!” Malcolm Gluck, The Guardian (UK). June 2004 "Good-value Pinot Noir (almost a contradiction in terms). Worth having for (its) pure, simple Pinot Character." Richard Ehrlich, The Independent (UK), March 2004 “Has to be offered to any one of the many wine merchants who each season shower me with balderdash about the latest Burgundy vintage and how irresistible it is. To be sure, this example of Pinot is a touch brash as it opens up, but it is sleek, lithe, gamy and deliciously discreet thereafter.” Malcolm Gluck, The Guardian (UK). August 2004 “This cheerful Chilean interpretation of Burgundy delivers surprisingly authentic Pinot Noir fruit. Its ripe, spicy, gamy style, complete with the robust, chunky qualities you would expect from a Southern Hemisphere, all indicate that it would be great with barbecue fare.” Jane MacQuitty, The Times (UK). June 2004

CONO SUR RESERVE PINOT NOIRVintage 2000 "Amazing value is now emerging from Chile. A recent Pinot Noir tasting showed that the young team of enthusiasts at Cono Sur has produced brilliant wine at a very mellow price. They have lots of wonderful fruit and are wonderful value." Western Mail Supplement (UK). March 2002

CONO SUR 20 BARRELS PINOT NOIRVintage 2000 "This is a beautifully perfumed Pinot Noir, with great purity of fruit (wild strawberries, cherries and damsons) and enough structure to hold it together for a good few years. Can compete with top Burgundies that cost several times as much" Chris Losh. Daily Telegraph (UK). October 2002 "Full, rich, ripe sweet palate" (86 points) Eric Wright, Wine magazine (UK) September 2002 "Better clones of Pinot, new open-topped fermenters and some input from Burgundy are seriously upgrading quality. There is real structure in this blend of fruit from Chimbarongo and Bío Bío, and refreshing acidity". Jancis Robinson, Jancisrobinson.com (UK) June 2002 "Very intense nose with spice, leather and fresh fruit -cherries and even blackberries. The palate has nice weight, firm grip but a nice ripe spicy core of fruit that lasts very well. Very impressive Pinot" Simon Meads, Wine Magazine Chile supplement (UK) May 2002 "The wine's rich, ripe, dark raspberry and cherry fruit flavours and hints of chocolate and game are complemented by velvety soft tannins" Wine Magazine (UK). February 2003

CONO SUR 20 BARRELS PINOT NOIRVintage 2001 “Chile’s increasing mastery of the Pinot Noir was clearly apparent in the award-winning Cono Sur 20 Barrels [Best Chilean Pinot Noir at the inaugural Wines of Chile Awards]. Good nose, with spicy elements and some coffee mocha flavours, this is complex and has good length.” Robert Joseph, Chile Supplement – Wine International Magazine, (UK). May 2004 "A scented, supple, wild strawberry-like Pinot Noir, a red that could go head to head with anything from Burgundy at its price range." Tim Atkin, The Observer (UK), January 2004 "Consistently one of Chile's best Pinots. Lovely clean and expressive berry-rich fruit grown in the Burgundy-esque Casablanca valley" Richard Ehrlich, Independent on Sunday (UK), April 2003 "This is one of the good Chilean Pinot Noirs and its creator, Adolfo Hurtado, one of the most knowledgeable winemakers in this variety. It is intense, fresh, with a certain refinement. There are marked black fruit notes plus some spicy and cedar hues, endowed by the wood. It keeps up in mouth: there's a well achieved balance between fruit and acidity and quality tannins, whichstill feel a tad vehement but will integrate and smooth over brief cellaring. An excellent Pinot Noir” Alex Órdenes, Chilevinos.com (Chile). March 2003 "This is a beautifully perfumed Pinot Noir, with great purity of fruit (wild strawberries, cherries and damsons) and enough structure to hold it together for a few good years." Chris Llosh, Daily Telegraph (UK). October 2002

CONO SUR 20 BARRELS PINOT NOIRVintage 2001 "Fruit, power, elegance, spice and a good structure -firm and expressive" (82 points) Richard Woodward, Wine magazine (UK) September 2002 “This wine manages to charm and delight. Its delicate nose, full of complexity and not obvious at all, gives off soft earthy, mushroom and truffle notes, with black fruit on the background; it’s a party to the senses! The different elements come together with elegance and harmony. In mouth again it achieves an exceptional quality level. In a style characterised by finesse, fruit expresses its full potential while the acidity is fresh, clean, almost crystal-like and the tannins reach an optimum texture. All in all, I’d summarise this wine as a variety icon, made with a rational approach and which makes for a great sensory experience.” Alex Órdenes, La Tercera Newspaper (Chile). July 2004.

CONO SUR MERLOT Vintage 2000 Vintage 2001"Balanced, with a gorgeous purple hue and chocolate, coffee and cherries on the nose, its easy to drink. Young and juicy, it's a great companion to sausages and lamb chops. Here's another victory for the Chilean philosophy of producing good wines at great prices." Kevin Sinclair, South China Morning Post (Hong Kong). May, 2002 "…Has quality in spades. Full of seductive, satanic plum and blackberry-charged fruit with a brilliant crimson purple colour. I defy anyone not to down this with pleasure." Jane MacQuitty's Star buy, The Times (UK) 3 February 2001 Vintage 2001 "Is like liquid velvet on toast, with rolling plums and cherries" Malcolm Gluck, The Guardian Weekend (UK). November 2002 "A pleasant surprise with its spiced plum and cassis aromas streaked with dried herbs and smoke. The flavours mix cherry, cassis and spice, all lightly oaked" Anthony Gismondy, Vancouver Sun (Canada) August 2002

CONO SUR MERLOT Vintage 2001 Vintage 2003"Delicious crimson purple Merlot with plenty of inky, chunky, herbaceous Chilean fruit, with a dollop of raspberry scent. This Merlot is at its best with food such as beef carpaccio and barbecued meats" Jane MacQuitty's Star buy, The Times (UK). July 2002 "Complex with a touch of liquorice. A foundation of elegant fruits supports a well balanced and delightful refined herbaceous character". Adrian Burns, Decanter (UK) June 2002 Vintage 2003 “A full bodied summer sipper. Spicy blackberry, cedar, and plum lead into black cherry, ripe plum and cedar stylings. Full, mellow delivery, with nice notes of vanilla and spiciness evident on the finish.” Excellent value. Gordon Stimell, Toronto Star (Canada). August 2004

CONO SUR RESERVE MERLOTVintage 2000 "A dark, plump, chocolate-hearted red of insinuating richness and welcome maturity" Nottingham Evening Post (UK), October 2003 "A vibrant, flavor packed Merlot bursting with generous Chilean character. There's a hint of white pepper on this otherwise plum-filled extravaganza of a winter warmer. Taken often and in small doses, this is a wine guaranteed to keep off the cold. One for the fireside, accompanied by a good book. Smooth and mellow" Andrew Catchpole, Electronic Telegraph (UK). December 2002 "This Merlot is a good example of the consolidation of this variety in the Rapel valley. The 2000 vintage features a dark and concentrated nosed wine, with clear notes of black fruits over hints of coffee, moist earth and a spicy edge reminiscent of Carmenère. In mouth it carries on, the fruit and the wood always nicely intertwined. New toasted and black chocolate traces" Alex Órdenes, Chilevinos.com (Chile) August 2002 "Rich, ripe, rounded fruit. Fullness of fruit flavours carries through to long finish. Attractive, well balanced and structured. Has personality" Nick Dumergue, Decanter (UK) June 2002 "Powerful spicy, chewy fruit with lots of spice and a little leafy hint. The palate is well balanced with lots of ripe black fruit and a very good length" Simon Meads, Wine Magazine Chile supplement (UK) May 2002

CONO SUR RESERVE MERLOTVintage 2001 "Very firm and jammy but does not lose control of itself. Enthusiasm with finesse." Malcolm Gluck, Superplonk (UK), March 2004 "A great example of Merlot from one of the most forward thinking wineries in Chile. A complex melange of blueberry fruits, subtle oak and firm tannin make this a perfect choice for any hearty autumnal meal" Matthew Stubbs, Crowthorne & Sandhurst Times (UK). October 2002 "A dark ruby red, herbaceous Chilean, with soft tannins and good fruit and an unexpectedly long, attractive finish. Great value." From The Saveur Cellar, Saveur Magazine (US). October 2003 Deep in color, then gentle in its soft red fruit, this ends in sweet plum and cherry flavors, a Merlot for rare roast beef" Wine & Spirits (US). August 2003 "Uncommon depth and structure for a wine in its price range, Cono Sur's Merlot from the 2001 vintage could easily pass for a Napa or Sonoma Bordeaux-style red at three times the price". Robert Whitley, W.O.W. REPORT (US). May 2003

CONO SUR RESERVE MERLOTVintage 2002 “Intense and deep cherry red colour. Dry fruits and marmalade aromas, with chocolate hints. In mouth, a good structure with noticeable tannins.” La Cav Magazine (Chile). June 2004. “Rich, concentrated and tannic, this has an oaky nose and good fruit acidity; nice concentration And richness and an intense, chunky finish.” “Bold, dark fruit. Firm grippy structure.” Chile Supplement – Wine International Magazine, (UK). May 2004 “It boasts colour concentration, with a deep shade of ruby red. This wine renders intense fruit, menthol, spices and well-integrated wood aromas. Balanced and endowed wit lively tannins, in mouth it’s the ripe fruit that expresses itself among chocolate and cacao notes. Great cellaring potential.” Paulina and Cecilia Jarero, Día Siete Magazine (Mexico). April 2004.

CONO SUR VISIÓN MERLOT Vintage 2000"Star winemaker Adolfo Hurtado's signature wine, which combines deliciously intense flavours of black cherries, blackberries and plums with nuances of chocolate and mocha from its barrel ageing" Manchester Evening News (UK). February 2003 "Cono Sur is justly proud of this immense brambly red which smells of blackcurrants, coffee and chocolate. Typical of Merlot grown in a very warm site, it is incredibly soft, but balanced by unusually juicy acidity" Mark Savage, The Journal (Newcastle, UK). February 2003 "A wine for a special occasion. It displays many of the reasons for which Chilean reds are so popular. Its vibrant dark-ruby colour harbours a nose that includes rich summer fruits laced with tobacco. It also has intense fruit flavours (especially ripe berries) with an excellent weight and persistence" Roger Strugnell, Fife Free Press (UK). November 2002 "Fresh black cherry and mulberry fruit. Fresh, youthful, balanced creamy oak, concentrated dark fruit, good, elegant wine" Susie Barrie, Decanter (UK) June 2002

CONO SUR VISIÓN MERLOT Vintage 2001"Intense Cabernet-like blackcurrant notes on the nose give way to more typical berry and plum flavours on the palate with some herbal overtones. Tons of concentrated ripe fruit, acidity and firm, but ripe tannins lead into more subtle, slightly astringent oaky notes on the finish. This robust red is stilldominated by young fruit and acidity but has the structure to develop well. Best " Sean Wood, The Halifax Chronicle-Herald (Canada). September 2003 "It has a good red fruit and spices concentration, the latter denouncing the presence of some Carmenère in the blend. In mouth it's very tasty, but still needs some cellaring" Chilevinos.com (Chile). November 2002 “Re-tasted twice since the January 2003 note published by Vintages, with consistent rating. This is quite big, lush Merlot with gorgeous, ripe blackberry-cassis fruit, eucalyptus and nutty oak. Full, soft and dense but fine tannin.” David Lawrason, Wine Access (Canada). August 2004. “A delicious medium-full bodied red showing hints of plum, blackberry and dark chocolate. Showing beautifully now, with fine, supple tannins, it would benefit from a couple of years in the cellar, too.” Beppi Crosariol, The Globe and Mail (Canada). August 2004

CONO SUR 20 BARRELS MERLOTVintage 2000 "Merlot seems to love the red clay of Nancagua in Chile's Colchagua valley. The tannins are ripe and the oak flavours are incidental to Merlot's own dense black fruits. If only all Merlots were as easy to drink." Monty Waldin, Decanter Magazine (UK), November 2003 "Dark, inky appearance. Attractive drinking. Smokey, dark fruit, well-balanced oak and long finish" Nick Dumergue, Decanter (UK) June 2002 "Full, rich, spicy black pepper and coffee. Deep, glorious texture with ripe tannins and balance. Very good length. Keep 2-5 years" Philip Goodband, Decanter (UK) June 2002 "The 2000 Merlot. Deep, concentrated, very tasty of black fruits. Well imprinted by French oak." César Fredes, Qué Pasa magazine (Chile), 12 August 2001

CONO SUR 20 BARRELS MERLOTVintage 2001 "Concentrated and black, this Merlot's blackberry and spicy scents underscore a massive block of flavors. It feels opulent with a mellow acidity that enhances the ripeness of the fruit, keeping it vibrant" (91 points) Wine and Spirits Magazine (US), January-February 2004 "Cono Sur's Adolfo Hurtado is recognised as one of the best producers of Chilean Merlot, if not world Merlot. Juicy and plummy, with velvety tannins. It's good on its own or with most dishes". Sainsbury's Magazine (UK). March 2002 Vintage 2002 “Attractive and deep red-violet colour. Black fruits, vanilla and chocolate aromas, with butter and spicy notes. In mouth there’s good structure and tasty, persistent tannins.” (88 points; ranked first in a professional blind taste of Chilean 2002 Merlots.) La Cav Magazine (Chile). June 2004. "Concentrated and lively black fruit (cherries, gooseberries, blackberries) in the nose and mouth. And plenty of confiture, smoke and vanilla from the toasted barrel where it aged. It boasts an impressive red colour, almost black, and firm but silky and pleasing tannins. If you buy it now, it will grant very rich aromatic complexities in a couple of years and in mouth it will keep on being very good." César Fredes, Qué Pasa magazine (Chile). March 2004

CONO SUR ORGANIC CABERNET CARMENÈREVintage 2003 “A clean-cut wine with honest and good expression on the nose, where strawberry and plum take the lead along with the occasional floral note, an element making it highly attractive. There’s also some tobacco and a toasted feel, which derives from a 14-month barrel ageing. Friendly in mouth, harmonious, balanced but with the delicate rusticity so typical to organic wines.” Paola Doberti, Capital Magazine (Chile). July-August 2004 “It’s important to state when talking about this wine we’ve never seen (or experienced) anything similar: deep colours with a slight brown tone on the edges, which is unable to shade the brightness of the wine. To the nose it reminds me of acacias, ashes, clay oven cooking, laurel and moist earth. In mouth the acidity perfectly complements the black fruit flavours, such as fig in toasted flour and black cherry; the concentration and persistence are remarkable. Ricardo Grellet, Chilevinos.com (Chile). July 2004

CONO SUR CARMENÈRE Vintage 2003“Attractive and intense red-carmine colour, characteristic of this variety. ”Moist black pepper and wood aromas and an agreeable, straightforward wine in mouth. Good acidity, balanced and long, with a toasted ending which makes it fun and appealing.” Ricardo Grellet, Chilevinos.com (Chile). April 2004.

CONO SUR VISIÓN CARMENÈREVintage 2002 “Deep red colour, with violet hues. Aroma with mentholated notes, ripe black fruit and vanilla. In mouth, firm and dry tannins and marked acidity.” La Cav Magazine (Chile), June 2004 Vintage 2003 “One of the best exponents, if not the best, due to its good structure and firm tannins, while still remaining a friendly wine; seductive, with perfect combination between wood and fruit, and good acidity.” [Tasted among a selection of Colchagua Carménère wines]. Andrea Arias, Chilevinos.com (Chile). July 2004. “A wine that attracts attention first through its depth, intensity and colour concentration; secondly thanks to the complex and enhanced aromatic intensity, in which ripe red fruit, cherry, cassis, spices and clove notes combine with subtle menthol. In mouth, this wine preserves its complexity. Good body, sweet yet strong tannins; a wine with big cellaring potential” Tororojo.com (Chile). July 2004.

CONO SUR VISIÓN SYRAH Vintage 2003“A wine made in open tanks and carrying a 15% Carménère in its blend, which lends it some sweet traces. It’s an explosion of unrestrained black and fresh fruit, almost chewable and very intense. A leading and flavourful acidity takes precedence in mouth.” Daniel Greve, PlanetaVino.com (Chile). June 2004

CONO SUR CABERNET SAUVIGNONVintage 2000 "Prunes and stewed tea with smoky leather, pepper and oak, mark its nose. The entry is warm with spicy, oaky flavours flecked with bits of blackberry and earth" Anthony Gismondy, Vancouver Sun (Canada) August 2002 Vintage 2001 "A Chilean classic from the Rapel valley with flavours as intense as its dark, deep red colouring. The taste is wall to wall black currants with a hint of mint". Nick Nunn. Lancashire Evening Telegraph (UK). September 2002 "Big does not always mean beautiful, but in Cono Sur's case I think it does. Blessed with a terrific thwack of rich, ripe, spicy blackcurranty fruit with some fine, fat plummy flavour on the finish, Cono Sur will clean up with this one too." Times on line (UK). November 2002 Vintage 2002 "Cono Sur Cabernet Sauvignon is fresh and sharp, with a heady fruit bouquet of plums, raspberries, cassis and blackcurrant." (Recommended to pair roasted satin chicken traditional style, and venison ribs in plum sauce) K. Anuradha, Metro KL (Malaysia). September 2003

CONO SUR RESERVE CABERNET SAUVIGNONVintage 2002 “Dry, jammy, quite hard wine, which is rich and serious. Good dark cassis fruit and chocolate with some eucalyptus hints.” Chile Supplement – Wine International Magazine, (UK). May 2004

CONO SUR VISIÓN CABERNET SAUVIGNONVintage 2001 "Big, fresh currant and berry scents with a slightly smoky overtone hinting at tobacco. There is concentrated fruit, thick texture, plenty of tannic structure and primary acidity in the mouth, finishing with exuberant fruit and spicy oak. Powerful rather than subtle, it needs two to three years to settle down and will develop further to 2010" Sean Wood, The Halifax Chronicle-Herald (Canada). September 2003 (Featured in the highly recommended selection) "Concentrated ripe fruit character. Velvety Bursting with flavour, Juicy fruit, refreshing acidity and structured tannins. Complete wine years" Adam Lechmere, Wine Magazine (UK). June 2003

CONO SUR 20 BARRELS CABERNET SAUVIGNONVintage 2000 "Vigorous Cabernet with intense notes of plums, cassis, blueberries and black pepper; soothed by softer ones of menthol, vanilla and tobacco.
