3 Who Are Ocado? Welcome to Roboshop - not a queue or trolley in sight! Inside the online superstore that covers 23 acres by DANIELLE GUSMAROLI, Daily Mail The warehouse The Ocado warehouse in Hatfield, Herts, is the world's largest automated retail warehouse. This picture shows just a third of the facility, which covers 23 acres and totals 1.2million square feet over three floors. The seven-day, round-the-clock operation employs 24,000 pickers, packers and drivers who organise grocery deliveries for Waitrose's 650,000 online shoppers. The company OCADO makes 46,000 home deliveries a week for Waitrose, making it the second most successful online grocer after Tesco. Unlike the online delivery services managed 'in-house' by Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury's, Ocado is an independent company delivering Waitrose products on behalf of the John Lewis-owned supermarket. Former investment bankers Jason Gissing, Neil Jewsbury and Jonathan Faiman set up the delivery service six years ago. John Lewis invested £75 million for a 30 per cent share of the business six months after it was founded. Ocado wasn't forecast to break even until 2008, but it is already making a profit. Such is its success that the company plans to build a replica of the Hatfield warehouse at a new location. Selection When an item is ordered, it is picked by staff or by automated crane from its allotted storage zone, placed into plastic crates and dispatched along a series of conveyor belts (shown in the middle of this picture) to be placed by hand into plastic carrier bags at packing stations, like those on the left of the picture. The company fills 230,000 bags a week. The process is controlled by a computerised management system, which ensures stocks are replenished and keeps track of customers' orders using a special system of barcodes.

10 Foundry – City Reference - ODLHiggins says, “We can have very large volumes of clients concurrently connected to our trading platforms at any moment throughout the trading day. These applications utilise multicast as their transport protocol, and we have found that Foundry’s native support of this protocol has ensured that not only is the network now more straightforward to configure, but our traders enjoy robust delivery of mission critical data to their desktop, ensuring that we are able to operate an around-the-clock non-stop network.”

14 MRP/VSRP InteroperationVSRP can be configured to run only on designated ports Only VSRP configured ports are placed in blocking for Backup switches Supports host attachments and dual port NICs: host facing ports are configured as VSRP free. Works in combination with MRP to provide flexible Metro / Enterprise Ethernet designs. VSRP fast-start NetIron 800 NetIron 800 MRP Master Backup NetIron 800 NetIron 800 For tight control over VSRP, you can designate which ports belong to the VSRP domain. This allows for interoperability with MPR and simpler configurations. In the redundant NIC environment, the servers can be placed into the Master and Standby switch with both ports active.
