2 LOS BOLOS ¿Qué son los bolos? El juego de los bolos es un deportetradicional asturiano. La Cuatreada es autóctona de Asturias. Es un deporte que exige destreza manual, destreza digital, concentración, puntería y coordinación visio-motora, firmeza de pulso y resistencia al temblor. Su área de influencia se extiende desde el oriente hasta el centro de la región, con especial protagonismo en los núcleos industriales. The game of the skittles is a traditional Asturian sport. The Cuatreada is autochthonous of Asturias. It is a sport that demands manual skill, digital skill, concentration, aim and coordination visio-motorboat, firmness of pulse and resistance to the quake. The area of influence spreads from the east up to the center of the region, with special protagonist in the industrial cores.
3 LOS BOLOS La Historia Los griegos, los romanos y los egipcios ya jugaban con bolos aunque, respecto a nuestros días, jugaban de manera diferente. En Asturias, se tienen datos de esta modalidad desde el siglo IX. En el siglo XVIII, según el testimonio de Jovellanos, “en la mayoría de los pueblos y lugares de Asturias hay siempre una bolera que es el sitio en donde se reúnen y juegan los vecinos”. The Greeks, the Romans and the Egyptians already were playing with skittles though, with regard to our days, they were playing in a different way. In Asturias, there is had information of this modality from the 9th century. In the 18th century, according to Jovellanos's * testimony, " in the majority of the villages and places of Asturias there is always a bowling alley that is the site (place) where the neighbors meet and play ". *Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos, (Gijon, on January 5, Port of Vega, Navia, on November 27, 1811) was a writer, jurist and illustrated (erudite) Spanish politician.
4 LOS BOLOS ¿En qué consiste?El juego de los bolos consiste en derribar unos palos plantados en el suelo mediante una bola también de madera, desde una distancia determinada. Podrán jugar dos o más jugadores, agrupados en un bando. sin exceder de cinco, llamados equipo. Las bolas deberán lanzarse desde el tiro al castro. Podrá jugar un jugador contra otro llamándose mano a mano. La situación del biche señala la dirección del efecto que debe imprimirse a las bolas a fin de conseguir la cuatreada. The game of the skittles consists of knocking down a few sticks, reached on the soil, by means of a ball also of wood, from a certain distance. 5 LOS BOLOS Reglas del juegoLa puntuación es acumulativa. Se suma por: meter la bola dentro, por tirar bolos, por cuatrear, y por parar la bola dentro del castro. The punctuation is accumulative. It adds for: to put the ball inside, for throwing skittles, for "cuatrear", and for stopping the ball inside the circle.
6 LOS BOLOS La Bolera La bolera tiene una medida de 25 m. de largo y se encuentra dividida en tres partes: zona de tiro, zona intermedia y castro, lugar con forma de circunferencia truncada en la parte frontal donde se colocan los bolos. The bowling alley has a measure of 25 m. of length and it´s divided in three parts: zone of shot, intermediate zone and circle, place with form of circumference truncated in the frontal part where the skittles are placed.
7 LOS BOLOS EquipamientoLos bolos tienen forma cónica con cabeza esférica y se necesitan 9 grandes (entre 500 y 800 grs.) y uno pequeño llamado biche. Son de madera y una altura de 52 cm. y 28 cm. La bola, (tradicionalmente es de madera, aunque empieza a ser utilizada la de fibra) es esférica con un agujero para introducir el dedo y pesa entre 0,60 y 0,80 Kg. The skittles have conical form with spherical head and there are needed 9 big ones (between 500 and 800 grs.) and the small one called biche. They are of wood and a height of 52 cm. and 28 cm. The ball, (traditionally it´s of wood, though that of fiber starts being used) is spherical with a hole to introduce the finger and weight between 0,60 and 0,80 kg.
8 LOS BOLOS Vocabulario http://www.federacionasturianadebolos.es/web/Bolo/Skittle : Elemento de juego, generalmente de madera de encina. Bola/Ball: Elemento fundamental para el juego. Suelen ser de madera de encina, aunque actualmente está permitido la utilización de materiales plásticos. El tamaño oscila entre los 10 cm. y los 11,50 cm de diámetro y con un peso entre los 600 y 800 gr. los jugadores infantiles y juveniles utilizan bolas de menor peso y tamaño. Biche/ Small pin: bolo más pequeño que marca la jugada. Observando el castro desde el tiro, si el biche está colocado a la izquierda, decimos que está para la “mano” y si está colocado a la derecha que está para el pulgar. Cinca/Zero scoring pin: primer bolo colocado en la fila de la pequeña. Tirar a la mano/To throw at the hand : Cuando el jugador lanza la bola de tal manera que al tomar tierra inicie el giro hacia la izquierda. El biche le marcará la jugada. Tirar al pulgar/To throw at the thumb: Cuando el jugador lanza la bola de tal manera que al tomar tierra inicie el gira hacia la derecha. El biche le marcará la jugada. Tirar a la grande/To throw the big one: Cuando quedan más de 14 bolos para matar un juego, el jugador buscará la fila más alejada de la zona de cuatreada (la grande). Tirar al medio/ To throw at the way: Se realiza cuando el jugador lanzará la bola intentando buscar los bolos de la fila del medio. Tirar a la pequeña/To throw the small one: Cuando la jugada buscada es la fila de los bolos más próxima a la zona de cuatreada, excepto el primer bolo (cinca). Cuatrear/Cuatrear: La zona de cuatreada está delimitada por unos alambres. Cuando una bola haya derribado algún bolo y alcance esa zona, pasando entre la caja de los bolos, o bien derribe el biche, decimos que esa jugada ha sido cuatreada. Juez armador/ Judge outfitter: Es el encargado de armar los bolos, y cantar el valor de la jugada.
