2 Tuesday, Feb. 8th Please write the RULES for SEMICOLONS in your DOL notebook: Use a semicolon ( ; ) to join two complete sentences about a similar topic. Do NOT add a conjunction (and, but, yet, or, for, so). A complete sentence has a subject and a verb. Ex) Correct: Jana is on a swim team; she practices at a nearby pool. Incorrect: Jana is on a swim team; her uncle lives in Nebraska. Place the semicolon after the last word of the first thought, then place the second complete thought a space after the semicolon.
