1 En el pasado mes de Marzo 2013, el Centro Manuel Antonio Muñoz Borrero trabajó colaborativamente en dos clases de literatura de Secundaria, una de 9EGB y otra de 10EGB. La coordinadora del centro tuvo la oportunidad de guiar a los estudiantes en la indagación y reflexión sobre el contenido histórico de los dos libros que leyeron en sus aulas bajo la coordinación de su Profesora Andrea Naranjo. The center’s coordinator had the opportunity to guide these students in their process of reflection and research on the historical context of the two books that they read in class under the direction of their teacher, Andrea Naranjo. 2 Noveno “B” leyó “El Diario de Ana Frank”. Este grupo de estudiantes tuvo la oportunidad de escuchar una charla preparada usando diferentes recursos físicos en la biblioteca y también investigando a través de recursos electrónicos legítimos para el estudio del Holocausto en el Internet. Así mismo pudieron ver extractos de la película italiana: “Los Recuerdos de Ana Frank” por el director Alberto Negri. “El Diario de Ana Frank” como testimonio escrito del Holocausto representa un buen comienzo para el estudio y comprensión del Holocausto. Décimo “A” leyó “La última mariposa del gueto” por la escritora Ecuatoriana Sonia Noboa Ribadeneria. Su libro es una recopilación de los recuerdos de Renate Krauz, una sobreviviente del Holocausto que fue prisionera del gueto de Terezín (en Checoslovaquia) y luego inmigró a Ecuador en el año 1945, después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Este grupo de estudiantes aprendieron acerca de la historia del gueto de Terezín, sus orígenes y cómo se convirtió en un gueto de tránsito de judíos de Checoslovaquia y de las zonas aledañas. En este contexto histórico los estudiantes aprendieron una historia muy especial, la historia de Friedl Dicker- Brandeis, que enseñó arte a los niños hacinados en el gueto. A través del arte, Friedl les ayudó a sobrellevar las condiciones infrahumanas. La renombrada exposición de estos dibujos ha viajado por todo el mundo. Eighth Grade “B”read The Diary of Anne Frank. This group of students had the opportunity to listen to an open lecture prepared using different physical resources in the library and also looking for information from legitimate online resources for the study of the Holocaust. These students also watched excerpts from the Italian movie “Memories of Anne Frank” by film director Alberto Negri. As a written testimony, The Diary of Anne Frank serves as a good point of departure for studying and understanding the Holocaust. The students from Ninth Grade “A” read The Last Butterfly in the Ghetto by the Ecuadorian writer Sonia Noboa Ribadeneira. This book is a memoir compiled from conversations with Renate Krauz, a Holocaust survivor who was imprisioned in the Terezín ghetto (Czechoslovakia) and who later immigrated to Ecuador in 1945, after World War II. This group of students learned the history of the Terezín ghetto, its origins and how it became a transfer site for Jews from Czechoslovakia and surrounding areas. Within this historical context, they discovered a very special story from Terezín, the story of Friedl Dicker-Brandeis, who became an art teacher for children crowded within the walls of the ghetto. Through art, she helped them cope with the deplorable conditions there. The renowned exhibit of these drawings has traveled the world.
