12 using ser & estar with food  SER is used to describe what food and drinks normally are like  ESTAR is used to describe how food and drinks look, taste or feel at a particular time  Example: “The coffee is hot” can have 2 different meanings depending on the verb you pick.  El café es caliente.  (Coffee is generally hot.)  El café está frío.  (The coffee that I have in my hands is cold right now.)
