6 Energy Efficiency “Life is a journey not a destination”The act of examining your resources is a learning opportunity Energy Planning with is a really important element on the road to building a Energy project. The secondary benefit is building community capacity and energy literacy and buy in. This way the skills that are necessary to do an energy project and understanding of the pro and cons of a project are knowledge your community needs to learn and the more planning you’ve done the more ownership you’ll have of the project. You will still need consultants which have specific technical knowledge but the more capacity that is built in the community directly the better. Some times the journey is just as important as the results: Installation of power predictors to monitor wind and solar resources Stream gauges for creeks Identify energy projects and resources of interest Undertake preliminary analysis Develop preliminary strategic plan for moving forward Alternative energy tour “Life is a journey not a destination” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Boilers are not eligible. Based off Energy Factor (EF) The current building code mandates residential domestic hot water efficiencies through the Energy Factor (EF) metric TE (Thermal Energy)- there is a test metric for residential water heaters – usually is EF. Commercial metrics is usually based off of TE. Usually the more efficient models were originally for commercial use and that is why they are based off of TE (based off of jules of NG used, and see how much hot water you get out of it). Rebates: Storage Tank $200 ( EF ), Non condensing tankless $400 ( ), Condensing tankless $500 ( ), condensing hybrid $500 ( Thermal Energy (TE), Condensing storage tank $1000 (0.80 EF or TE) Same reminders as for fireplaces- always check the fortisbc website for up to date list of eligible models.
