2 Holux M-241 GPS Data Logger Introduction and UseThe Holux M-241 is a GPS data logger capable of storing 130,000 waypoints. The intended use for CAWG Civil Air Patrol is to record aircraft / vehicle ground tracks during a search. This use will enable an accurate assessment of grid coverage for mission planning purposes.

3 Holux M-241 GPS Data Logger Prior to the SortieFollow the Quick Start Guide and checklist to prepare the unit for use by: Installing a new AA battery Erasing memory of any previous waypoints Confirming settings

4 Holux M-241 GPS Data Logger At the AirplaneFollow the Quick Start Guide and checklist to: Hang the M-241 from the cord near a window Turn the unit ON using the small switch on the bottom

5 Holux M-241 GPS Data Logger At the AirplaneStart logging prior to departure by pressing the Enter button Note the “running man” icon on the left of the display after pressing Enter

6 Holux M-241 GPS Data Logger After the Sortie is CompleteFollow the Quick Start Guide and checklist to: Stop logging after landing or arrival by pressing the Enter button Turn the unit OFF Turn unit in to Debriefer (along with cable) to download waypoints

15 Holux M-241 GPS Data Logger Post Sortie processingSelect File | Export as KMZ and enter an appropriate filename such as: “12-T-6692 A JUL-12 N718CP GPS Log.kmz” This exports a file you can use to view the track in Google Earth

17 Holux M-241 GPS Data Logger Post Sortie processingTurn off the GPS Logger and unplug it from the PC Return the GPS Logger to the aircrew / ground team Upload / Send *.itm and *.kmz files and photos along with sortie worksheets to Planning for analysis.
