3 Novel Study Activities 1. Main Idea*Pick a piece of colored paper *Fold your paper like a hotdog *Read assigned chapter for 10 minutes *Write the main idea of what has been read in section 1 of your hotdog *After 10 more minutes write the main idea for what has been read in section 2 *After 10 more minutes write the main idea of what has been read in section 3 *Now turn your paper over and using the 3 sections write the main idea of the chapter and staple your hotdog into your reference book

It usually has to with something in nature but doesn’t have to be limited to nature. The rule is Haiku is the syllabic count. *Line 1 – has 5 syllables *Line 2- has 7 syllables *Line 3- has 5 syllables
7 Activities cont. Book CommercialThe “Book Commercial” is a form of a book report, but use “propaganda” techniques to “sell” the book to an audience. Make sure not to give away the ending! *Use may make your commercial in keynote or Imovie. Your plan “storyboard” should be done in reference books.

News ReportThis is a creative writing activity to use your talents of perception and creativity as you practice skills in making inferences, drawing conclusions, predicting and generalizing. You are to become a reporter on the scene and write a new story about what is happening in the novel. This news report is to be done and shared at the end of book 1. The “News Report” will be shared aloud similar to the “Evening News”.
