3 Location Iceland is part of the Euorpean continent. Iceland’s capital city is Reykjavik. Iceland is a island. The latitude/longitude is 65 degrees 00’N,18 degrees 00’W. An advantage is that it is not to hot and not to cold.

4 Topography Yes there are mountains in Iceland. Example:The Oaefjokull mountain (2,119 meters) (6,952 ft.) There are no lakes or rivers in Iceland. There is an ocean very near to Iceland because it is an Island. The glaciers of Iceland cover 11.5 % of the total area of Iceland.

5 Government The president of Iceland is Qlafur Ragnal Glimsson and the prime minister is Geir H.Haarde (2006) The government officials are elected by popular vote. Parliament makes the laws. Some of the political parties are Independence and Left green party.And many more. Iceland is divided into 8 regions.

6 Economy The major exports are fish,fish products and aluminum. The major imports are machinery and equipement A way in Iceland to make money is to be a teacher,doctor and artist. The natural recourses are fish,hydropowder and diatomite. The “Krona” is the local money in Iceland.

7 People and Culture 100% of the Icelandic people are Christians. The people in Iceland speak:Icelandic,English,Nordic languages,and German is widely is spoken. Some of the main foods that Icelandic eat are seafood,lamb,cabbage and potatoes. A national holiday in Iceland is Independence day. The different ethnic groups are Norse and Celts.
