17 INSME – International Network for SMEs 17 2005 INSME Action Plan As of early April 2005 the Association counts 65 Members from 31 countries, out of which 12 OECD and 19 non OECD member countries. INSME aims to increase the number of Members to 80 by the end of 2005 and also hopes for the increased participation from countries outside the European Union and the formal involvement of international organisations and NGOs such as: the African Development Bank, IADB (the Inter-American Development Bank), UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) and CAN (the Andean Community), that have already voiced interest in collaborating with the Association.
18 INSME – International Network for SMEs Priorities in 2005 18 Increase interaction and regular contacts between the INSME Secretariat and INSME Members (especially Full Members) and foster linkages and exchanges among Members on a thematic/sectoral/geographical basis Improve Member’s satisfacion by personalising and targeting more timely information and opportunities on a one-to-one basis (off line and on line) Participate in international calls for tenders/proposals as a partner organisation privileging inputs from Members/Partners Increase financial incomes by involving new Members / Sponsors / providing value added services and extending INSME’s geographical reach Plan and develop operational activities/projects to the benefit of Members Acquire legal recognition as an Association according to the Italian Law

21 INSME – International Network for SMEs Benefits for Members Ad-hoc services that have been created for INSME Members include an Australian-Italian collaboration in the area of innovation in the textiles sector that is being organised with the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group), an INSME Full Member This collaboration foresees: the organisation of site visits (in late 2005) for an Australian delegation to get to know the main Italian Textile Industrial Districts (especially in the wool sector) Related meetings with relevant public and private bodies will also be arranged so as to create concrete outcomes and ongoing benefits 21
22 INSME – International Network for SMEs The INSME Association participates as a partner in a European Union call for tenders (that expired on the 10 th of February) called: The ECO-WINGS 4 SMEs Economic and Technological Intelligence (ETI) Action will encourage global international co-operation in the field of energy consumption, emissions, waste and pollution-related industrial activities, favoring a cross-cutting dimension in the inter-dependency of research, thus securing a leading role for Europe in international research efforts on global sustainable development issues Direct Participation in Calls for Tenders 22 "ECO-WINGS 4 SMEs - Third country SMEs and European Research for a joint sustainable development through eco-efficient and competitive products and processes"

24 INSME – International Network for SMEs Call for Co-hosting and Co-organisation As in 2004, this call for collaboration will be made to both INSME Members and Non-Members from all over the globe, although preference will be given to applications from Full Members in the case of indecision between bids of equivalent appeal. See the Guidelines In-kind Full Membership will be granted to the Co-host for 2006 and proposals must be submitted to the INSME Secretariat by e-mail or fax by the 15th of July, according to the Guidelines A decision will be taken by the INSME Board and communicated to INSME Members and Candidates for co-hosting the Meeting indicatively by mid-September, 2005.
