1 Irregular Preterite Verbs

2 The verbs “ir,” “ser,” and “hacer,” which are all frequently used, are irregular in the Preterite. Fortunately, “ir” and “ser” have the same forms in the Preterite.

3 IR – to go yofui tú fuiste usted, él, ella fue nosotrosfuimos ustedes, ellos, ellasfueron Yo fui al cine el sábado por la tarde. ¿A qué hora fuiste a la clase de inglés?

4 SER – to be yofui túfuiste usted, él, ellafue nosotrosfuimos ustedes, ellos, ellasfueron La fiesta fue a las ocho de la noche. Ayer, la clase de ciencias naturales fue muy interesante.

5 IR and SER Context will show if we are using a form of “ir” or “ser” when we use the Preterite. Ayer yo _____ a la fiesta con mis amigos. _____ el primero de noviembre. Nosotros _____ a la agencia de viajes. ¿Por qué no _____ ella al café con nosotros?
