better 11 WAYS TO MANAGING SCHOOLS > By: Donato D. Balderas, Jr.

ALWAYS WEAR THE HARD HAT- “HARD HAT AREA” - “SAFETY FIRST” - Be cautious - Look into the safety and welfare of the students - Care, concern - “PAGMAMALASAKIT” - Exercise the necessary diligence

2. MAKE SCHOOLS AS CAMPUSES- Academic atmosphere - Orderliness – order of things - There are effective systems - Child-friendly - No nuisances (Doctrine of attractive nuisance) - Look forward to being in the school

3. FIGHT AT WHERE THE TOUGHEST BATTLE IS- The battle happens at the schools - The toughest battle is with the classrooms - All help and support should be directed to the classrooms - Observe your teachers – coach them, mentor them - MOOE should reach the classrooms (It is actually shameful to have beautiful offices if your classrooms are dilapidating and your school environment is disorderly)

- First in… Last out x 4. BE THE LAST MAN STANDING… BE THE FIRST TOO.- Last in… First out - First in… Last out Remember the “WE ARE SOLDIERS” - Mel Gibson - Passion – contaminate them with it - Push them, inspire them - Leadership is all about influencing and to influence is to inspire people first x

- Put your heart and mind at what you should do for the day5. DON’T BACK YOUR CARS… YET. - When you get to your school, you have to think of the job you will do - You are there because you are to do something - Do not arrive with the thought of leaving - Put your heart and mind at what you should do for the day

6. LOOK FORWARD TO VICTORY… WHEN THE DUST SETTLES- Be positive that you will accomplish your goal - Action is the word - Do something, involve others, involve more, involve all! - It will be exciting and fun - Make the place dusty with actions and when the dust settles… what matters is the residue… the substance(legacy)

7. STRIVE TO UNIFY YOUR TEAM- Ninja Turtles: “If your team is unified, You will always succeed.” - Be a part of the solution and not the problem - Inform them, guide them, don’t play favorites - Be fair - No one should be left behind

8. SILENTLY WORK FOR YOUR PEOPLE – NO CONDITIONS, NO IFS, NO EXPECTATIONS OF REWARD - You will discover that other people will reward you a thousand fold - Just believe that something good will come out of your generosity and kindness - Never miss an opportunity to help, because it may not present itself again *real heroes are in the shadows: discover them and recognize them

9. NEVER CEASE TO BUILD BRIDGES- Collaboration - Interdependence - Close gaps - Networking *be humble to accept that you still need to learn and that there are things that you still don’t know

10. LEARN TO FOCUS - To be everywhere is to be nowhere - Og Mandino- Gather your strength and deliver with one solid blow the way Kung Fu masters do - Concentrate on your work and you will be amazed at what you can do

11. CELEBRATE EVERY DAY AS IF IT WERE YOUR LAST- Be happy - Meet people with gladness, even the seemingly undesirable and unpleasant - Everyone has goodness in them - Reverse the traditional paradigm of seeing the fault first; see first the goodness because that is always greater than the faults
