4 Girls Lacrosse Mission Statement The mission of Girls Fairmont Lacrosse is to be committed to teaching sportsmanship, the power of teamwork and development to each student's fullest ability as a lacrosse player. The Girl’s Fairmont Lacrosse program aims to develop, promote and facilitate a positive, safe, fun developmental and competitive lacrosse experience. Players will be taught the importance of TEAM lacrosse and sportsmanship. Players will be able to improve their knowledge of the game, skill and athleticism. Our program will enable and build age-appropriate lacrosse skills and game knowledge. Every player regardless of skill level, will have the opportunity to learn the game, develop individual teamwork skills and succeed in the high school level of lacrosse. As Coaches, we will take pride in offering a POSITIVE and FUN lacrosse experience. BECOME TRADITION
5 BECOME TRADITION GIRLS LACROSSE Expectations of Student Athletes-We expect our student athletes to take pride in their education first and foremost. We will be regularly checking grades and checking in with teachers to make sure the athletes are doing their jobs in the classroom. -We will implement study tables. -We expect student athletes to make practices, be ready to start on time and commit fully throughout the entire practice. We expect our student athletes to lead the league in sportsmanlike behavior. We will bench student athletes for unsportsmanlike behavior and will not tolerate disrespectful behavior towards coaches, teammates, competitors, parents or officials. BECOME TRADITION
6 BECOME TRADITION BOY’S LACROSSE PROGRAM DETAILS:MISSION STATEMENT: We are members of the Fairmont High School Lacrosse program. As such, we require unity and loyalty. Through the GREAT game of Lacrosse we will strive to become young men of integrity and will avoid anything that will harm the program or any of its members. We will take responsibility for our shortcomings and do what we can to improve upon them. We will strive to become men of CHARACTER. When given choices, we will choose to do the right thing. As a team, we will sacrifice to insure that we will maximize our individual talents in achieving the team’s goals. BECOME TRADITION

8 BECOME TRADITION “A MAN of FAIRMONT”As part of the greater meaning of student athlete, we need to DEVELOP the whole person through our SPORT. As such, the Lacrosse Program intends to implement and develop the “Man of Fairmont” Program. In conjunction with Athletic Department, the Lacrosse program will seek to develop and work on the CHARACTER of the young men of Fairmont. Lacrosse as in any sport is more than the X’s and o’s, and the play inside the lines of completion. We MUST work on the holistic development of the student athlete to prepare them for life, and how this GREAT sport can do that. Every moment must be a created moment of teaching, and one striving to be the best (best meaning “MAN of Fairmont”). Theme for the “MAN of Fairmont” is: This is the beginning of a NEW day. I have been given this day to use as I will. I can waste it or use it for good. What I do today is important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving in its place something I have traded for it. I want it to be gain, not loss. Good, not evil. Success not failure, in order that I shall not regret the price paid for it, because the FUTURE IS JUST A WHOLE STRING OF NOWS. Part of our TEAM MISSION: As we build the sense of COMMUNITY, let us understand that if there is anything that will move you, any incentive to WILL the good of your teammate, fellowship of good- I appeal to you to be ONE in mind, ONE in CHARACTER, ONE in VIRTUE. 11 BECOME TRADITION EQUIPMENT NEEDS:Gloves: prefer white, but will except navy and grey as well Arm pads: same colors as gloves Cleats Stick: must meet NFHS rules for HS rules Tennis shoes Practice gear: navy or grey shorts/sweats (Fairmont or plain) White tee shirt, or white compression under gear (see equipment needs on the website for places to shop, and further details.) All students (not in a winter sport) must attend this try out, and all practices thereafter FINAL FORMS: Anyone trying out for either Varsity or JV must have a physical on record with the school before February 20th.
