Population-based genetic epidemiological study of the human KCNMB1 gene The four exons of KCNMB1 were amplified using polymerase chain reaction and analyzed by direct sequencing. A new single nucleotide substitution (G352A) corresponding to a glutamic acid to lysine mutation at position 65 (E65K) of the protein was found in the third exon of the KCNMB1 gene. The genotype frequencies were 78.4% for EE homozygote, 20.0 % for EK heterozygote, and 1.6% for KK homozygote subjects in a representative random population sample of 3,876 participants.
