1 MANDATOS FORMALES (FORMAL COMMANDS)

2 Depending on who you are speaking to, here are the command possibilities….. “Formal” (USTED & USTEDES) “Informal” (TÚ) We are going to learn the USTED & USTEDES now…!

3 To form the command: 1. “yo” form in present tense: cantar = cantoabrir = abrobeber = bebo 2. Remove the “o” and add “opposite vowel” (Add “n” also for the plural ustedes command) -ar verbs= e(n) -er/-ir verbs= a(n) ¡cante usted! or ¡canten ustedes! ¡abra usted!or¡abran ustedes! ¡beba usted!or¡beban ustedes!

4 3.Negative commands: Add “no” directly in front of command form. ¡no cante! or ¡no canten! ¡no abra! or¡no abran! ¡no beba!or¡no beban!

5 4.Why even consider the “yo” form in present? CAREFUL to remember irregular yo forms and stem changing verbs! poner =pongo=¡ponga(n)! hacer=hago=¡haga(n)! salir=salgo=¡salga(n)! venir=vengo=¡venga(n)! decir=digo=¡diga(n)! volver=vuelvo=¡vuelva(n)! hervir=hiervo=¡hierva(n)! pedir=pido=¡pida(n)!
