“Your sister church in Babylon, also chosen by God, sends you greetings, and so does my son Mark.” (1 Peter 5:13 – GN)

“When Simon Peter saw what had happened, he fell on his knees before Jesus and said, ‘Go away from me, Lord! I am a sinful man!’” (Luke 5:8 GNB)

“Then Jesus began to teach his disciples: ‘The Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the Law. He will be put to death, but three days later he will rise to life.’ He made this very clear to them. So Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. But Jesus turned around, looked at his disciples, and rebuked Peter. ‘Get away from me, Satan,’ he said. ‘Your thoughts don’t come from God but from human nature!’” (Mark 8:31-33 GNB)

“Six days later Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John, and led them up a high mountain, where they were alone. As they looked on, a change came over Jesus, and his clothes became shining white---whiter than anyone in the world could wash them. Then the three disciples saw Elijah and Moses talking with Jesus. Peter spoke up and said to Jesus, ‘Teacher, how good it is that we are here! We will make three tents, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.’ He and the others were so frightened that he did not know what to say.* Then a cloud appeared and covered them with its shadow, and a voice came from the cloud, ‘This is my own dear Son---listen to him!’” (Mark 9:2-7 GNB) *He did not really know what he was saying (Luke 9:33)

“Peter answered, ‘I will never leave you, even though all the rest do“Peter answered, ‘I will never leave you, even though all the rest do!’ Jesus said to Peter, ‘I tell you that before the rooster crows two times tonight, you will say three times that you do not know me.’ Peter answered even more strongly, ‘I will never say that, even if I have to die with you!’” (Mark 14:29-31 – GN)

“Simon, Simon! Listen! Satan has received permission to test all of you, to separate the good from the bad, as a farmer separates the wheat from the chaff. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith will not fail. And when you turn back to me, you must strengthen your brothers.” (Luke 22:31,32)

“They arrested Jesus and took him away into the house of the High Priest; and Peter followed at a distance. A fire had been lit in the center of the courtyard, and Peter joined those who were sitting around it. When one of the servant women saw him sitting there at the fire, she looked straight at him and said, ‘This man too was with Jesus!’ But Peter denied it, ‘Woman, I don't even know him!’ After a little while a man noticed Peter and said, ‘You are one of them, too!’ But Peter answered, ‘Man, I am not!’

And about an hour later another man insisted strongly, ‘There isn't any doubt that this man was with Jesus, because he also is a Galilean!’ But Peter answered, ‘Man, I don't know what you are talking about!’ At once, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed. The Lord turned around and looked straight at Peter, and Peter remembered that the Lord had said to him, ‘Before the rooster crows tonight, you will say three times that you do not know me.’ Peter went out and wept bitterly.” (Luke 22:54-62 – GN)

{The Woman} “entered the tomb, where they saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe---and they were alarmed. ‘Don't be alarmed,’ he said. ‘I know you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is not here---he has been raised! Look, here is the place where he was placed. Now go and give this message to his disciples, including Peter: ‘He is going to Galilee ahead of you; there you will see him, just as he told you.’” (Mark 16:5-7 – GN)

“Then Peter and the other disciple went to the tomb“Then Peter and the other disciple went to the tomb. The two of them were running, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and reached the tomb first.” (John 20:3-4 GNB)

“I passed on to you what I received, which is of the greatest importance: that Christ died for our sins, as written in the Scriptures; that he was buried and that he was raised to life three days later, as written in the Scriptures; that he appeared to Peter and then to all twelve apostles. Then he appeared to more than five hundred of his followers at once, most of whom are still alive, although some have died. Then he appeared to James, and afterward to all the apostles. Last of all he appeared also to me...” (1 Corinthians 15:3-8 – GN)

“After they had eaten, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me more than these others do?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ he answered, ‘you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Take care of my lambs.’ A second time Jesus said to him, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ he answered, ‘you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Take care of my sheep.’ A third time Jesus said, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ Peter became sad because Jesus asked him the third time, ‘Do you love me?’ and so he said to him, ‘Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you!’ Jesus said to him, ‘Take care of my sheep.’” (John 21:15-17 GNB)

Love Agapē Phileo an affectionate, sentimental, passionate love - “brotherly love” based on the emotions and feelings. since it is based on the feelings it is subject to change as the feelings change.

Agape Love in its highest and truest form – the love of which there is no greater This is a love based in the mind – based more on how we treat others than on our feelings It adds principle to feeling in such a way that principle controls the feelings. It brings into play the higher powers of the mind and intelligence. Selfless love that sacrifices for others “There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13 NLT)

“Later, when Peter came to Antioch, I had a face-to-face confrontation with him because he was clearly out of line. Here’s the situation…Peter regularly ate with the non-Jews. But when that conservative group came from Jerusalem, he cautiously pulled back and put as much distance as he could manage between himself and his non-Jewish friends. That’s how fearful he was of the conservative Jewish clique that's been pushing the old system of circumcision.” (Galatians 2:11-12 MSG)

“And remember, the Lord's patience gives people time to be saved“And remember, the Lord's patience gives people time to be saved. This is what our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him—” (2 Peter 3:15 NLT)

“This is the Good News about Jesus Christ, the Son of God“This is the Good News about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.” (Mark 1:1 – GN)

“A man suffering from a dreaded skin disease came to Jesus, knelt down, and begged him for help. ‘If you want to,’ he said, ‘you can make me clean.’ Jesus was filled with pity, and reached out and touched him. ‘I do want to,’ he answered. ‘Be clean!’” (Mark 1:40-41 – GN)

“At once the disease left the man, and he was clean“At once the disease left the man, and he was clean. Then Jesus spoke sternly to him and sent him away at once, after saying to him, ‘Listen, don’t tell anyone about this. But go straight to the priest and let him examine you; then in order to prove to everyone that you are cured, offer the sacrifice that Moses ordered.’ But the man went away and began to spread the news everywhere. Indeed, he talked so much that Jesus could not go into a town publicly. Instead, he stayed out in lonely places, and people came to him from everywhere.” (Mark 1:42-45 GNB)

“There were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his disciples didn't even have time to eat. So he said to them, ‘Let us go off by ourselves to some place where we will be alone and you can rest a while.’ So they started out in a boat by themselves to a lonely place. Many people, however, saw them leave and knew at once who they were; so they went from all the towns and ran ahead by land and arrived at the place ahead of Jesus and his disciples. When Jesus got out of the boat, he saw this large crowd, and his heart was filled with pity for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began to teach them many things.” (Mark 6:31-34)

“Then Jesus went back to the synagogue, where there was a man who had a paralyzed hand. Some people were there who wanted to accuse Jesus of doing wrong; so they watched him closely to see whether he would cure the man on the Sabbath. Jesus said to the man, ‘Come up here to the front.’ Then he asked the people, ‘What does our Law allow us to do on the Sabbath? To help or to harm? To save someone's life or to destroy it?’ But they did not say a thing. Jesus was angry as he looked around at them, but at the same time he felt sorry for them, because they were so stubborn and wrong. Then he said to the man, ‘Stretch out your hand.’ He stretched it out, and it became well again. So the Pharisees left the synagogue… and met at once with some members of Herod's party, and they made plans to kill Jesus.” (Mark 3:1-6 – GN)

“Jesus went into the Temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the stools of those who sold pigeons, and said to them, ‘It is written in the Scriptures that God said, 'My Temple will be called a house of prayer.' But you are making it a hideout for thieves!’ The blind and the crippled came to him in the Temple, and he healed them. The chief priests and the teachers of the Law became angry when they saw the wonderful things he was doing and the children shouting in the Temple, "Praise to David's Son!" So they asked Jesus, "Do you hear what they are saying?" "Indeed I do," answered Jesus. "Haven't you ever read this scripture? 'You have trained children and babies to offer perfect praise.' " (Matthew 21:12-16 GNB)

“…some messengers came from Jairus' house and told him, ‘Your daughter has died. Why bother the Teacher any longer?’ Jesus paid no attention to what they said, but told him, ‘Don't be afraid, only believe.’ Then he did not let anyone else go on with him except Peter and James and his brother John. They arrived at Jairus' house, where Jesus saw the confusion and heard all the loud crying and wailing. He went in and said to them, ‘Why all this confusion? Why are you crying? The child is not dead---she is only sleeping!’ They started making fun of him, so…

…he put them all out, took the child's father and mother and his three disciples, and went into the room where the child was lying. He took her by the hand and said to her, "Talitha, koum," which means, "Little girl, I tell you to get up!" She got up at once and started walking around. (She was twelve years old.) When this happened, they were completely amazed. But Jesus gave them strict orders not to tell anyone, and he said, ‘Give her something to eat.’” (Mark 5:35-42 – GN)

“Jesus was walking through some wheat fields on a Sabbath“Jesus was walking through some wheat fields on a Sabbath. As his disciples walked along with him, they began to pick the heads of wheat. So the Pharisees said to Jesus, ‘Look, it is against our Law for your disciples to do that on the Sabbath!’ Jesus answered, "Have you never read what David did that time when he needed something to eat? He and his men were hungry, so he went into the house of God and ate the bread offered to God. This happened when Abiathar was the High Priest. According to our Law only the priests may eat this bread---but David ate it and even gave it to his men.’ And Jesus concluded, ‘The Sabbath was made for the good of human beings; they were not made for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.’” (Mark 2:23-28 GNB)

“Some people think that a certain day is more important than other days, while others think that all days are the same. We each should firmly make up our own minds. Those who think highly of a certain day do so in honor of the Lord…So then, let us stop judging one another.”(Romans 14:5-6,13 GNB)

“The great body of Christ’s true followers are still to be found in their communion.” (GC, 390)

“In the beginning the Word already existed; the Word was with God, and the Word was God. From the very beginning the Word was with God. Through him God made all things; not one thing in all creation was made without him. The Word was the source of life, and this life brought light to people.” (John 1:1-4 GNB)

“So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. On the seventh day God had finished His work of creation, so He rested from all His work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when He rested from all His work of creation.” (Genesis 2:1-3 NLT)

“Create a pure heart in me, O God, and put a new and loyal spirit in me.” (Psalms 51:10 GNB)“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth disappeared, and the sea vanished. And I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared and ready, like a bride dressed to meet her husband. I heard a loud voice speaking from the throne: "Now God's home is with people! He will live with them, and they shall be his people. God himself will be with them, and he will be their God.” (Revelation 21:1-3 GNB)

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work…” (Exodus 20:8-10 ESV) "Keep the Sabbath day holy. Don't pursue your own interests on that day, but enjoy the Sabbath and speak of it with delight as the LORD's holy day. Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on that day, and don't follow your own desires or talk idly. Then the LORD will be your delight.” (Isaiah 58:13-14 NLT)

“Remember that you were slaves in Egypt, and that I, the LORD your God, rescued you by my great power and strength. That is why I command you to observe the Sabbath.” (Deuteronomy 5:15 GNB)

“Jesus drank the wine and said, ‘It is finished“Jesus drank the wine and said, ‘It is finished!’ Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. Then the Jewish authorities asked Pilate to allow them to break the legs of the men who had been crucified, and to take the bodies down from the crosses. They requested this because it was Friday, and they did not want the bodies to stay on the crosses on the Sabbath, since the coming Sabbath was especially holy.” (John 19:30-31 GNB)

“For somewhere in the Scriptures this is said about the seventh day: ‘God rested on the seventh day from all his work.’ This same matter is spoken of again: ‘They will never enter that land where I would have given them rest.’ Those who first heard the Good News did not receive that rest, because they did not believe. There are, then, others who are allowed to receive it. This is shown by the fact that God sets another day, which is called ‘Today.’ Many years later he spoke of it through David in the scripture already quoted: ‘If you hear God's voice today, do not be stubborn.’

If Joshua had given the people the rest that God had promised, God would not have spoken later about another day. As it is, however, there still remains for God’s people a rest like God’s resting on the seventh day. For those who receive that rest which God promised will rest from their own work, just as God rested from his. Let us, then, do our best to receive that rest, so that no one of us will fail as they did because of their lack of faith.” (Hebrews 4:4-11 GNB)

“On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul began talking to them, intending to leave the next day, and he prolonged his message until midnight.” (Acts 20:7 NASB) “On Saturday evening we gathered together for the fellowship meal. Paul spoke to the people and kept on speaking until midnight, since he was going to leave the next day.” (Acts 20:7 GNB)

“On the Lord’s day the Spirit took control of me, and I heard a loud voice, that sounded like a trumpet, speaking behind me.” (Revelation 1:10 GNB) “It was Sunday and I was in the Spirit, praying. I heard a loud voice behind me, trumpet-clear and piercing…”(Revelation 1:10 MSG)

Constantine “On the venerable day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed.” (321 AD) “Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday, but shall work on that day.” (364 AD – Church Council of Laodicea)
