5 Learning Through Play- (CIL)- Aprendiendo jugando What is child-initiated learning? Child-initiated learning is when a child chooses something that engages them. It is important that children are able to access a whole range of learning opportunities, as they learn from watching and imitating others as well as by exploring and experimenting. Children learn more through self- chosen activities that they truly enjoy. Qué es child-initiated learning? Es cuando el niño elige algo que le gusta y le motiva. Es importante que puedan acceder a una variedad de oportunidades de aprendizaje, ya que aprenden observando e imitando a otros y experimentando ellos mismos. Los niños aprenden mejor cuando son ellos los que eligen la actividad ya que realmente la están disfrutando.

8 Learning Journey books/ Diarios de Aprendizaje Each child will be given their own learning journey book. In the book we will be sticking pieces of work. The learning journey books will be sent home at the end of the year. Photos and notes will be recorded electronically and later shared with parents individually. In October you will receive an email asking you to accept a request, this will give you access to the photos and information. When you receive the photos and observations of their learning you can also comment on them. Cada niño tendrá un cuaderno dónde pegaremos los distintos trabajos que han ido realizando. Los cuadernos se entregarán al final de curso. Todas las fotos y comentarios se harán de forma electrónica y después enviadas y compartidas con los padres de manera individual. En Octubre recibirán un email. Este email os dará acceso a toda la información y fotos una vez aceptada la solicitud. Una vez recibidas las fotos, podréis comentar sobre estas y su aprendizaje.

9 Becoming independent/ Ganando automonía We are encouraging the children to become independent learners You can help at home by: Letting them put coats/babi’s on independently Teaching them how to fasten their own zips and buttons. Encouraging them to clean themselves after using the toilet. Encouraging them to dress and undress independently. Encourage your child to eat independently and begin to use a knife and fork. Please sew a 20cm loop into your child’s coat so that they can hang it independently Animamos a los niños a que aprendan de manera autónoma En casa podéis ayudar animándoles a: Que se pongan ellos solos el babi o el abrigo Abrocharse los botones y cremalleras Que se limpien solos despúes de ir al baño. Que se vistan y desvistan solos. Que coman solos y comiencen a usar cuchillo y tenedor. Os agradeceremos que cosáis una cinta de unos 20cm en el abrigo para que puedan colgarlo ellos solos en su percha.

10 Helping at home/ Ayudando desde casa Reading Books During the term we will start to send reading books home. They have no words to start with. The idea is for the children to read the books at home and describe what is happening in the story. You can use the yellow reading record book to write down every time your child reads. We encourage you to read the story at least 3 times a week. Please can we ask for them to be kept in your child’s folder at all times. Phonics During the year we will be introducing your child to lower-case letter sounds (not letter names). When recognising the letters there are two types of sounds, they are either stretchy sounds or bouncy sounds. When we teach letter formation there are phrases to accompany each letter.  Example: letter m,  sound = mmmmmmm (stretchy sound)  letter formation phrase = maisy, mountain, mountain. Libros de lectura Durante el trimestre, empezaremos a mandar libros para leer en casa. Al principio serán libros sin texto. La idea es que los niños intenten describir lo que pasa en la historia teniendo en cuenta los dibujos. Podeis usar los libros amarillos para escribir como han leeido en casa y para ayudarnos a saber las veces que han leeido. Os rogamos que mantengáis los libros en el folder de los niños todos los días. Fonética Durante este año introduciremos a los niños la fonética de las letras minúsculas (no el nombre de la letra, sino su sonido). Hay dos tipos de sonidos: los sonidos elásticos y los sonidos que rebotan. Mientras enseñamos la fonética, hay frases para acompañar a cada letra. Ejemplo: la letra “m”. Sonido: mmmmmmmmmm ( sonido elástico) Formación de la frase: Maisy, montaña, montaña

11 Helping at home/ Ayudando desde casa Writing Patterns We will be sending some examples of writing patterns for your child to practise at home. They can be done using various mediums e.g. using paint, in sand, using their finger in a tray of shaving foam etc. Name writing Please remember that they should practise using lower-case and not upper-case (except the first letter) Contact Books/Class Dojo We use class Dojo for behaviour and to encourage the children in a positive way. But we also give negative points if needed. If there is a serious issue we will contact you personally. Please write any messages only in your child’s contact book (not on class Dojo). Trazos de pre-escritura Os enviaremos algunos ejemplos de trazos para que practiquen en casa. Pueden practicar utilizando varios medios y materiales, por ejemplo, con pintura, en la arena, con el dedo en espuma de afeitar, etc. Escritura de su nombre Recordar que deben practicar usando letras minúsculas no mayúsculas (Excepto la primera letra). Contact books /class dojo: Se utiliza este sistema para regular el comportamiento y con el fin de motivar a los niños positivamente. También se darán puntos negativos si es necesario. Si hay algun problema o algo grave personalmente nos pondremos en contacto con vosotros. Por favor escribir los mensajes solo en los contact book de vuestros hijos. (No en class Dojo)
