3 ejemplos ¿Quieres algo para comer? Alguien está en la oficina.Quiero algunas galletas. Do you want something to eat? Someone is in the office. I want some cookies.

4 Negative words Nada – nothing Nadie – no oneNingún/ninguno(a) – none, not any Nunca – never Tampoco – neither, either NOTE: In Spanish, there is a double negative. In English there is not. Example: In English we say: There is not anything to eat. In Spanish, it would be: There is not nothing to eat.

5 ejemplos No hay nada para comer. Nadie quiere comer mole negro.No quiero ningún bistec. No quiero pollo tampoco. There isn’t anything to eat. No one wants to eat mole negro. I don’t want any (none) bistec. I don’t want chicken either.

6 A key to remember! Alguno/a and ninguno/a have to match the gender and number of the noun they replace or modify.

7 ejemplos Yo quiero algunas galletas.(Alguno becomes algunas to match galletas.) Mi padre quiere alguna ensalada. Mis amigos no tienen ninguna paella. Carlos nunca sirve ningunas fresas.

8 One more thing… Alguno and ninguno use a different form before masculine singular nouns. Drop the “o” and write an accent over the “u”. alguno  algún ninguno  ningún Ejemplos: Ella quiere algún pastel.  She wants some cake. Nosotros no queremos ningún arroz.  We don’t want any rice.

9 Don’t forget… **Double negatives are used in Spanish.No me gusta nada.  I don’t like anything. (nothing) Piensa de opuestos (think opposites) algo – nada alguien – nadie alguno – ninguno también – tampoco siempre - nunca
