1 Pentecost as a Kingdom Event Acts 1-2 Session 1#nwzc17

2 Pentecost as a kingdom eventAfter his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God (Acts 1:3). Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (1:6-8). He witnessed to them from morning till evening, explaining about the kingdom of God (28:23). He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ (28:31). No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people” (2:17). #nwzc17

14 The messianic kingdom Loss and exile #nwzc17The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand on the seashore; they ate, they drank and they were happy. And Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the Euphrates River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. These countries brought tribute and were Solomon’s subjects all his life. Solomon’s daily provisions were thirty cors of the finest flour and sixty cors of meal, ten head of stall-fed cattle, twenty of pasture-fed cattle and a hundred sheep and goats, as well as deer, gazelles, roebucks and choice fowl. For he ruled over all the kingdoms west of the Euphrates River, from Tiphsah to Gaza, and had peace (shalom) on all sides. During Solomon’s lifetime Judah and Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, lived in safety, everyone under their own vine and under their own fig tree. 1 Kings 4:20-25 Loss and exile #nwzc17
