3 Possessive Adjectives You already know a form of possessive adjective: mi(s)nuestro(s)/nuestra(s) tu(s)vuestro(s)/vuestra(s)su(s) These come before the noun and agree in number and gender (ex – nuestras amigas)

4 Possessive Adjectives There is also a long form of possessive adjectives They agree in number and gender They come AFTER the noun they describe Used for emphasis

5 Possessive Adjectives mío(s)nuestro/nuestra mía(s)nuestros/nuestras tuyo/tuyavuestro/vuestra tuyos/tuyasvuestros/vuestras suyo/suyasuyo/suya suyos/suyas suyos/suyas

6 Examples: 1.Voy al partido con un amigo mío I go to the game with a friend of mine. 2. Vas a la fiesta con unas amigas tuyas. You go to the party with some friends of yours.

7 Possessive Adjectives These possessive adjectives can be used with or without a noun Ex: ¿Estas chaquetas son suyas? Are these jackets yours? Sí, son nuestras Yes, they’re ours.

8 To clarify ownership To clarify who owns an item, you can use” “de + the owner” Ex: la chaqueta suya la chaqueta de Juanita

9 Used as pronouns These can be used as pronouns You need to use the definite article with it, unless it follows the verb ser Ex: Mi coche es grande. El tuyo es pequeño. My car is big. Yours is small. El coche grande es mío. El coche pequeño es tuyo.
