5 Preaching "Another Jesus"Introduction Many have their own perception & imagination of Jesus Man’s imagination is misguided and needs divine direction Isaiah 55:8, 9; Jeremiah 10:23; Proverbs 14:12 Man’s perception of Jesus is not from Divine Scripture Romans 10:1-3 The majority have a false imagination of Jesus Similar to those of Jeremiah’s day Jeremiah 7:24; 9:13, 14; 11:8 The proper source to learn of Jesus is the scriptures 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 The majority proclaim another Jesus! Isa. 55:8, 9 - For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thought. Jer. 10:23 - O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. Prov. 14:12 - There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Rom. 10: Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. Jer. 7: But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. 24 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward. Jer. 9:13, And the LORD saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein; 14 But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them: Jer. 11:8 - Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did them not. 1 Cor. 15: Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
6 Preaching "Another Jesus"A Jesus Who… Is only the “baby Jesus” to them! Most worship and remember “baby Jesus” By celebrating only his miraculous birth on December 25th Matthew 1:18-23 He is our King - 1 Timothy 6:15; John 18:37 He has all authority - Matthew 28:18 We are His bondservants - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 He must be confessed and obeyed - Philippians 2:9-12 We are commanded to remember His Death on the cross Matthew 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 11:23-27 We Must Remember the Suffering Savior each First Day of the Week - Acts 20:7 Matt. 1: READ 1 Tim. 6:15 - Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate (Mighty ruler) , the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Jn. 18:37 - Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. Matt. 28:18 - And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 1 Cor. 6: What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. Philippians 2: Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Salvation by “Faith Only” But, James 2:24 By “praying through” or praying the “Sinner’s Prayer” But, Acts 22:16; 10:1-6, 48 By “receiving” the Holy Spirit But, Acts 19:1-6; 10:44-48 Man Must Humble Himself to Christ’s Word! Mark 16:15-16; Matthew 7:21; 1 Peter 5:6 Jas. 2:24 - Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. Acts 9:11 - And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, Acts 22:16 - And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Acts 10:1-6 - READ Vs. 47, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Acts 19:1-6 - READ Acts 10: READ Mk. 16:15, And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Matt. 7:21 - Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 1 Pet. 5:6 - Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Outward actions reflect the heart of a person Romans 10:10, 11; Matthew 15:18, 19 The issues of life stem from what is in the heart Proverbs 4:23-27 “So in spiritual things: the heart is the seat of the Lord of life and glory; and the streams of spiritual life proceed from him to all the powers and faculties of the soul. Watch with all diligence, that this fountain be not sealed up, nor these streams of life be cut off. Therefore ‘put away from thee a froward mouth and perverse lips-and let thy eyes look straight on.’ Or, in other words, look inward-look onward-look upward.” - Adam Clarke’s Commentary We Must Demonstrate the Heart of the Matter by Actions in Harmony with God’s Will! 1 John 5:2 Rom. 10:10, 11 - For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Matthew 15:18, 19 - But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: Prov. 4: Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. 24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. 25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. 26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. 27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil. 1 Jn. 5:2 - By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
9 Preaching "Another Jesus"A Jesus Who… Allows them to live as they desire, with no consequences! All will be held accountable Romans 14:12; Matthew 12:36; 1 Peter 4:5 Man must please God on His terms Colossians 1:10; I John 3:22 All will stand before Christ in Judgment 2 Corinthians 5:10, 11; Revelation 22:12 We will answer to Judge Jesus on the last day! Acts 17:30, 31 Rom. 14:12 - So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Matt. 12:36 - But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 1 Pet. 4:5 - They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. Col. 1:10 - That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 1 Jn. 3:22 - And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 2 Cor. 5:10, or we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences. Rev. 22:12 - And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. Acts 17:30, 31 - And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: 31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
10 Preaching "Another Jesus"A Jesus Who… Allows them to choose a church that satisfies their perceived needs! Christ Built & Died for only His Church, the “One Body” Matthew 16:18; Acts 20:28; Ephesians 5:25, 26 Christ is the Head of only His Church - Ephesians 5:23 Men need to revaluate their “needs” as God declares Most focus on the physical while ignoring the spiritual needs Many worship not knowing why they do so - John 4:20-24 All are sinners & need salvation found only in Christ! Romans 3:23; Ephesians 1:3-7 Matt. 16:18 - And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter (petros - a (piece of) rock) and upon this rock (Petra - a (mass of) rock (literally or figuratively)) :I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. {Peter: this name signifies a rock} Acts 20:28 - Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Eph. 5:25, Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word Eph. 5:23 - For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Jn. 4: Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Rom. 3:23 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Eph. 1: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
11 Preaching "Another Jesus"A Jesus Who… Expects His church to accept them without question Early disciples did not do this - Acts 9:26-28 Many believe Christ must accept them without questions or repentance But, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Ephesians 5:1-5; 1 Peter 4:1-3 Must not fellowship those in sin & error Ephesians 5:11 Must maintain the purity of the church! 2 Thessalonians 3:6, 14; Romans 16:17, 18 Acts 9: And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple. 27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. 28 And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem. 1 Cor. 6: now ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. Eph. 5:1-5 - READ 1 Pet. 4:1-4 - Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: 4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: Eph. 5:11 - And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. 2 Thess. 3:6 - Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. Rom. 16:17, Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
12 Preaching "Another Jesus"A Jesus Who… Accepts anything that they think appropriate as worship to Him! We please God by worshiping Him according to His will John 4:24; Mark 7:6-9 “..it (worship) must be in TRUTH, not only in sincerity, but performed according to that Divine revelation which he has given men of himself” Must not yield to “will worship” Colossians 2:20-23 Christ and the Father will not accept vain worship! Matthew 15:8, 9 John 4:24 - God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Mk. 7:6-9 - He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. 7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. 8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. 9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. Col. 2: Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, {rudiments: or, elements} 21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not; 22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? 23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh. Matt. 15:8, 9 - This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
13 Preaching "Another Jesus"A Jesus Who… Wants them to vocally praise His name without regard to submitting to His authority! Impossible to love Christ disregard His authority Matthew 28:18; Luke 6:46 Those who truly Love Jesus will do HIS will John 14:15, 21, 23-24; 15:10, 14; 1 John 5:3 Only those who obey Christ, truly praise Him! Hebrews 5:8, 9; Acts 5:29 Matt. 28:18 - And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Lk. 6:46 - And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Jn. 14:15 - If ye love me, keep my commandments. 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. Jn. 15:10 - If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. 14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. 1 Jn. 5:3 - For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. Heb. 5:8, 9 - Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Acts 5:29 - Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
14 Preaching "Another Jesus"A Jesus Who… Wants their happiness above all else! True happiness is attained by living a life pleasing to Jesus 1 John 1:4; 3 John 1:4 Many are not “happy” with the bounds of the doctrine of Christ 2 John 9-11 Many are not “happy” if they are rebuked for their sin & error 1 Timothy 5:20 Many are viewing happiness emotionally Faithful brethren find joy (gladness, exceeding joy) in suffering for righteousness sake! 1 Peter 3:14; 4:14-16 1 Jn. 1:4 - And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 3 Jn. 1:4 - I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 2 Jn Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. 1 Tim. 5:20 - Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 1 Pet. 3:14 - But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; 1 Pet. 4: If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. 16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

God is Loving, Good & Severe John 3:16, 17; Romans 11:22; 2 Peter 3:9 God is not willing that any perish 2 Peter 3:9-15; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 The disobedient will not inherit the Kingdom of God! Romans 2:4-9 Jn. 3:16, 17 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Rom. 11:22 - Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. 2 Pet. 3: READ - The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Thess. 1:7-9 - And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, {his...: Gr. the angels of his power} 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: {taking: or, yielding} 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; Rom. 2:4-9 - READ

17 Preaching "Another Jesus"Romans 1: NKJV 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man-and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. 24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. 19 Preaching "Another Jesus"2 Corinthians 10:4-6 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
