1 Preterite Tense

3 Add the preterite tense endings to the stem of the ‘-ar’ verb.

4 The endings are: Yo -é Nosotros -amos Tú -aste Ud./ella/él -ó Uds./ellos -aron

5 bailé bailamos bailaste bailó bailaron

6 I bought the dog yesterday. He talked on the phone. They rode bikes. Yo compré el perro ayer. Él habló por el telefono. Ellos montaron las bicicletas.

7 We sent the letter last week. Nosotros enviamos la carta la semana pasada. Anna worked yesterday. Anna trabajó ayer. You called Jordan last night. Tú llamaste a Jordan anoche.

8 -car, -gar, -zar verbos are…special. They have a spelling change in the “yo” form. buscar, pagar, empezar (to begin/start)

9 - -car → qu --gar → gu -Ejemplo: yo busqué - Ejemplo: yo pagué -- zar → c - Ejemplo: yo empecé
