1 Proyecto Niños de la CalleStreet Kids Project

2 El proyecto “Solidaridad Con Los Niños De La Calle” se inició hace unos 5 años atras en la ciudad de Cochabamba – Bolivia. El programa de apoyo en Australia, al mencionado proyecto, comenzó en febrero del 2007, bajo la iniciativa de Daisy Montaño como miembro de Rotary Club Glenhaven (Sydney) quien enlazó este club con el de Rotary Cochabamba Tunari, para hermanarlos. Rotary Tunari dió a conocer a Daisy algunos de los proyectos en los cuales ellos estaban involucrados. The project’ Solidarity with Street Kids’ was initiated in Cochabamba, Bolivia, about 5 years ago. Support in Australia for this project commenced in February, 2007 as an initiative of Daisy Montaño, a member of the Glenhaven Rotary Club, who linked this club with the Cochabamba Tunari Rotary Club in a Rotarian Sisterhood. Rotary Tunari told Daisy about some of the projects in which they were involved.

3 Entre estos estaba el de “Solidaridad con Niños de la Calle”Entre estos estaba el de “Solidaridad con Niños de la Calle”. Muchos de estos niños vivían en la calle y estaban expuestos a los peligros callejeros tales como drogas, abuso de menores, etc. De todos los proyectos la visitante quedó impactada con la necesidad imperiosa de ayudar a éstos niños. Este proyecto está bajo la tutela del Arzobispado de Cochabamba, el cual por falta de medios económicos recurrió a Rotary Tunari para formar una alianza de colaboración y así sacar a estos niños del ambiente callejero. Among these projects was “Solidarity with Street Kids.” Many of the children cared for through this project used to live on the streets and were exposed to the dangers of the streets, such as drugs, child abuse, etc. Of all the projects, the visiting rotarian was especially impressed by the pressing need for help to these kids. The project is under the auspices of the office of the Archbishop of Cochabamba, which, needing more financial assistance, contacted Rotary Cochabamba Tunari to ask for cooperation in the endeavour to remove these children from the environment of the streets.

4 El Arzobispado, con la ayuda de Rotary Tunari consiguió un pequeño equipo para fabricar helados de leche, con el objetivo de comercializarlos y de esta manera generar fondos para mantener esta pequeña fabrica y solventar otras necesidades de este grupo (ej; alimentación, etc) Al mismo tiempo este proyecto cuenta con un programa de alfabetización para los niños asistentes al Centro. The office of the Archbishop, with Rotary Tunari’s assistance, obtained a small ice-cream making machine. The objective was to make it a commercial operation and in this way generate some income that would keep the small factory going as well as cover the needs of the children, i.e., food, etc. The project also offers a literacy and numeracy program for the children attending the centre.

5 También existe un programa de manualidades donde los niños ejercitan su creatividad haciendo tarjetas de navidad, pulseras, tejidos, manteles, etc para la venta. Con diversas donaciones y un mínimo de fondos, el centro ha logrado hacer algo, asi como podran ver en las siguientes diapositivas. There is also a crafts program so the kids can exercise their creativity in making Christmas cards, bracelets, weaving, table cloth-making, etc. for sale. Through various donations and with a limited amount of cash, the centre has managed to achieve something, as you can see in the following images.

37 Rotary Tunari tiene a su cargo un gran número de proyectos de ayuda a grupos necesitados. Uno de estos proyectos es "Solidaridad con los Niños de la Calle" Este proyecto ampara aproximadamente a 180 niños necesitados, cuyas necesidades son innumerables. Rotary Tunari invitó a su club hermano, Rotary Glenhaven en Sydney, a unir esfuerzos para este proyecto y también pidió asistencia económica para cubrir algunos gastos de las necesidades del centro. Como respuesta y aceptando este pedido, Rotary Glenhaven preparó un evento de recaudación de fondos “Noche Boliviana” como primer paso a un compromiso de ayuda económica a Rotary Tunari para este proyecto en particular. El evento dió como resultado una suma de $ Aus 2,090 de ganancia. Rotary Tunari has a good number of projects to help people in need. One of these is “Solidarity with Street Kids.” Through this project approximately 180 children, whose needs are numerous, are given shelter and protection. Rotary Tunari invited its sister club, Rotary Glenhaven in Sydney, to join forces with this project and has also asked for economical assistance to cover some of the expenses of the centre. Glenhaven Rotary Club accepted the invitation and initiated a fund raiser “Bolivian Night” as the first step in their economical contribution to their sister Rotary Club. This event made a profit of $Aus 2,090.

38 Rotary Glenhaven con una visión futurística, ve la necesidad de ampliar este proyecto.Esta visión incluye la creación de talleres de enseñanza de cocina, repostería, artes manuales, etc Desafortunadamente el Centro no cuenta con las condiciones necesarias para realizar el proyecto a este nivel y serán necesarias mayores sumas de dinero para poder equipar la cocina, las aulas, los talleres y proporcionar un espacio gimnástico / deportivo. With a vision for the future, Rotary Glenhaven has seen the need to expand this project. This vision includes the creation of cooking workshops, a bakery, crafts, etc. Unfortunately, the Centre does not have the necessary conditions to carry the project forward to this level and larger sums of money will be necessary in order to fully equip the kitchen, the classrooms, the workshops; as well as to provide space for gymnastics and sports.

39 Rotary Internacional ofrece la posibilidad de un “Matching Grant” del 50% del monto recaudado por el club iniciante. Para este efecto, se decidió organizar una función llamada “Bolivia En Concierto”(3 Mayo 2008) y poder ayudar a elevar el monto total requerido para solicitar el “Matching Grant” y de esa manera aportar a esta causa justa. Rotary International offers the possibility of a “Matching Grant” of 50% of the total amount raised by the initiating Rotary club. Representatives of some Bolivian folkloric dance groups and musical bands wish to support this cause and have organised a function called “Bolivia In Concert” (3 May 2008). Funds raised at the concert will assist in the application for the “Matching Grant” from Rotary International. Toda ayuda por insignificante que parezca es de gran valor, ya que sumando centavos y fuerzas podremos ayudar mejor a esta causa. A united effort will assist a just cause, as every gesture of good will and every cent, no mater how small, is valuable to make a difference to the lives of young people in need.
