2 The long-term goals of Sofia municipality development are:Resilient and sustainable poly-centric urbanization; Maintaining the population in the smaller settlements and attracting investments in them; Sustainable development towards modern and ecological habitation; Conservation and development of the natural resources; Introduction of innovative approaches and obtaining of the local community trust and its inclusion in the decision-making process; ELABORATION OF LOCAL STRATEGY FOR SPECIFIC SPATIAL DECISIONS AND MANAGEMENT MEASURES TO ASSIST THE RESILIENT GROWTH OF SOFIA MUNICIPALITY NOTHERN TERRITORIES.
3 THE MAIN PROBLEMS OF THE TERRITORIAL LOCATIONS WHICH WERE ANALISED IN THE PROJECT TURASTHE SOUTHERN TERRITORIES (VITOSHA MOUNTAIN COLLAR) Overbuilding Incapacity of implementation of the needed infrastructure Impaired environment and landscape Compromised water bodies Interrupted connections with the city Transport accessibility mainly by cars Lack of social infrastructure Compromised possibility to create local centers for public activities THE NORTHERN TERRITORIES Ineffective policies for urban growth; Shortage of the necessary population to build an efficient infrastructure; Lack of jobs Insufficient support for local businesses Environmental damage and pollution Inadequate and outdated infrastructure Problems with uncontrolled expansion of the city

14 THE NORTHERN TERITORRIES – MRAMOR village MILD HOME – ECO VILLAGE WITH PASSIVE BUILDINGS Main features of the project Zero emissions, low power consumption, passive house made of recycled materials - zero emissions with sustainable waste and water management Lower construction costs (thanks to the organization of local supply chains, modularity, specific patterns of design and standardization of raw materials) Implementation of the house with high energy efficiency, accessible construction and operational costs for people with low to moderate incomes Increasing the sustainable development of such buildings at EU level, proving that it is possible to build sustainable green Eco settlements based on MILD HOME for everyone in Southeast Europe
