Subjunctive mood is used in two situations: 1. To talk about something you aren’t sure about yet 2. to give advice without commanding someone to do something (AKA My dad’s way of talking to me – Love you, dad!)

To have the subjunctive, you must have: 2 cláusulas (2 clauses) divididas con ‘que’ (Divided by que) 2 sujetos diferentes (2 different subjects – 1 in each clause) 1 razón (a reason)

sujeto 1 + verbo presente indicativo (con una razón) QUE sujeto 2 + verbo presente subjuntivo cláusula 1 cláusula 2

Because it is a way to give advice without commanding (mandato), the conjugation is similar to commands. 1. Forma de yo (presente indicativo) Yo 2.Menos –o drop 3. Más el opuesto -AR-ER/-IR eemosaamos eséisasáis eenaan

Stem-changers: If there is a stem-change in the ‘yo’ form, there will be a change in all forms except nosotros and vosotros. *The nosotros and vosotros will change o to u or e to I in –ir verbs only. Poder puedapodamos puedaspodáis puedapuedan Dormir duermadurmamos duermasdurmáis duermaduerman
