2 Telling time inSpanish Time is not TOO different in Spanish. It is formatted the way time used to be told in English. It sounds a little more polite… maybe a little more “old fashioned” when translated. But TIME is TIME.
3 The hours To say “It is one o’clock” in Spanish we say… Es la una.
4 Telling time in Spanish To say “It is two o’clock” in Spanish we say… Son las dos. Son las (+ number) is the pattern used for all hours from 2:00 through 12:00.

6 Minutes from :01 - :30 To discuss the minutes past the hour from :01-:30 we follow the hour with …y (+number) 2:05 Son las dos y cinco. 2:20 Son las dos y veinte

9 Examples 2:50 (ten ‘til three) Son las tres menos diez. 2:40 (twenty ‘til three) Son las tres menos veinte.
