Reformation 2017: The Good News of a Good ShepherdDuring the months of September, October and November, we will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation by asking a simple question: Is the Reformation still significant, 500 years later? So far we have seen that the Reformation's significance is in the re-discovery of the ETERNAL GOSPEL at a time when many people, and many churches had forgotten it. The re-discovery of the Gospel begins with a clear understanding of the Law.
Reformation 2017: The Good News of a Good ShepherdOnly when we understand that God is perfect and we are hopeless sinners apart from Christ, can we fully appreciate the Gospel. But when we feel the full burden of our condemnation by God's Law, and the fear of God which accompanies our condemnation, then God is quick to come to us with the Good News of our Good Shepherd.
Reformation 2017: The Good News of a Good ShepherdToday we focus on the forgiveness, freedom and peace that comes because our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, laid down His life for us and took it back up so that we would be children of God, now and forever.
WELCOME
CALL to WORSHIP: (Psalm 23:1-6/诗篇23:1-6) A: The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. C: He makes me lie down in green pastures, A: he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. C: He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
CALL to WORSHIP: A: Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, C: for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. A: You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. C: You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
CALL to WORSHIP: A: Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, C: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. AMEN!
CONNECT TIME! (交流时段) P: For the next few minutes, find one or two people that you can talk with. This could be a friend or someone you are meeting for the first time. Introduce yourself and share an answer to one of the following questions with each other: What was the best part of your week? What was the hardest part of your week? Where did you see God at work this week?
#271 Saviour, Like A Shepherd, Lead Us1 Saviour, like a shepherd lead us, Much we need Thy tender care, In Thy pleasant pastures feed us, For our use Thy folds prepare: Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus! Thou hast bought us, Thine we are, Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus! Thou hast bought us, Thine we are.
#271 Saviour, Like A Shepherd, Lead Us2 Thou hast promised to receive us, Poor and sinful tho' we be; Thou hast mercy to relieve us, Grace to cleanse, and power to free: Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus! We will early turn to Thee, Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus! We will early turn to Thee.
#271 Saviour, Like A Shepherd, Lead Us3 Early let us seek Thy favour, Early let us do Thy will; Blessed Lord and only Saviour, With Thy love our bosoms fill: Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus! Thou hast loved us, love us still, Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus! Thou hast loved us, love us still. Amen.
CONFESSION & FORGIVENESSP: In the name of the Father and the Son + and of the Holy Spirit Matthew 28:19 C: Amen
CONFESSION & FORGIVENESSP: Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the work of Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You and worthily magnify Your holy name, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. C: Amen.
CONFESSION & FORGIVENESSP: If we say we have not sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (silence for personal confession)
P Most merciful God, C we confess that we are in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. But for the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your holy name. Amen
P: Almighty God, in His mercy, has given His Son to die for us and, for His sake, God forgives us all our sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ and by His authority, I therefore declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the + Son, and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen!
PRAYER OF THE DAY(今日祷告)P: Let us pray: C: O Lord Jesus, You are the Good Shepherd who has laid down His life for us and for our salvation. Today we pray that you would fill us with the absolute peace and comfort of the Gospel. Give us confidence and joy so that we would, with Your help, live repentant lives as Your forgiven people.
PRAYER OF THE DAY(今日祷告)C: And let this message of Your kindness and love, shown to us on the Cross and in Your glorious resurrection, go out from us into the whole world as we love and serve our neighbors in Your name. For Your name, Lord Jesus, is the name which is above every name. And it is in Your name that we pray, for You live and reign together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen!

11"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.
14"I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me-- 15just as the Father knows me and I know the Father--and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.
17The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life--only to take it up again. 18No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father." A: This is the word of the Lord C: Thanks be to God

# 327 A Mighty Fortress is our God1: A mighty Fortress is our God, A bulwark never failing; Our helper He amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing. For still our ancient foe Doth seek to work us woe; His craft and pow’r are great, And armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal.
# 327 A Mighty Fortress is our God2: Did we in our own strength confide, Our striving would be losing, Were not the right man on our side, The man of God’s own choosing. Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He; Lord Sabaoth His name. From age to age the same, And He must win the battle.
# 327 A Mighty Fortress is our God3: And though this world, with devils filled, Should threaten to undo us, We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us. The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him; His rage we can endure, For lo, his doom is sure: One little word shall fell him.
# 327 A Mighty Fortress is our God4: That word above all earthly pow’rs, No thanks to them, abideth; The Spirit and the gifts are ours Through Him who with us sideth. Let goods and kindred go, This mortal life also; The body they may kill, God’s truth abideth still; His kingdom is forever. Amen.
