2 Introduction My name is Ms. Odorizzi and I am one of the first grade teachers here at Williams. This is my third year at Williams, and second year teaching first grade. I can’t wait to get started! 3 Continuing Programs We will be continuing both of our International Baccalaureate (IB) and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Programs. IB is a framework to teach the state mandated curriculum. The curriculum is taught through six transdisciplinary themes. PYP teaches students to me globally minded by developing critical thinking skills in conjunction with the learner profiles and attitudes. STEM encourages students to pursue STEM related careers. Equips students with 21st century skills. Continuaremos nuestros programas de Bachillerato Internacional (IB) y Ciencia, Tecnología, Ingeniería, y Matemáticas (STEM). IB es un marco para ensenar el plan de estudios mandado por el estado. El currículo se enseña a través de seis temas transdisciplinarios. PYP enseña a los estudiantes a ser de mentalidad global por medio del desarrollo de habilidades de pensamiento crítico junto con los perfiles de aprendizaje y actitudes. STEM anima a los estudiantes a conseguir carreras relacionadas a STEM y equipa a los estudiantes con habilidades de siglo XXI.

4 Clubs Students will be able to participate in clubs this year! Clubs are held Wednesday mornings so every student has the opportunity to participate. 5 Goals We are driven to achieve specific goals in our class to be prepared for the ultimate goal: college! Nos mueve a lograr metas específicas en nuestra clase para estar preparados para el objetivo final: Colegio!

6 Expectations Students will work extremely hard. Students will follow Essential Agreements. Students will display IB Learner Profile and Attitude attributes. 90% attendance rate is required for students to be promoted to the next grade. Los estudiantes trabajarán arduamente. 9 G.O. Binder Our get organized binder is a very important tool for: –Homework When homework is completed ALL week, students will earn “Falcon Bucks” to be spent at Business Day. This includes reading log being signed. –Parent/ Teacher Communication –Keeping up with what is happening in class Books will be checked in and out every Wednesday. Books must be returned on Wednesdays to check out new books. Nuestra carpeta “Organízate” es muy importante para: –Tarea Cuando los estudiantes completan la tarea TODA la semana, se ganaran “Falcon Bucks” que pueden usar el día de negocios. 10 Snack There is a sign up by the door. –Sign up weekly. Once we reach the end of the volunteered snacks, I will send a note home and you will be responsible for sending a snack. 11 Supplies Supplies are outlined on a handout in your packet. Please do not buy anything fancy. 12 Birthdays Birthdays are always fun to celebrate at school but we need to follow some guidelines: –Must be celebrated at the end of the day. –Birthday party invitations may be sent to school if every student in the class in invited. –Only HEALTHY snacks may be handed out. There is a sheet in your packet that outlines acceptable foods for parties and snack.
